Barli Sasmitawinata adalah seorang maestro seni lukis

realistik. Pria yang lahir di Bandung 18 Maret 1921 itu
emnjadi pelukis berawal atas permintaan kakak iparnya,
tahun 1935, Sasmitawinata, agar Barli memulai belajar
melukis di studio milik Jos Pluimentz, seorang pelukis
asal Belgia yang tinggal di Bandung.

Target Language
Barli Sasmitawinata is a Maestro of realistic painti ng. He was

born in Bandung on March 18, 1921 and become a

painter at his brothers in law request, to learn to paint
at a studio belonging to Jos Pluimentz, a Belgian painter
who lived in Bandung

Barli dilatih secara intensif untuk melihat objek karena

realistik masih sangat populer ketika itu, Pluimentz sang
guru, pun selalu berkata, cara melihat seniman dan
orang biasa harus berbeda. Orang biasa tidak mampu
melihat aspek artistik sesuatu benda sebagaimana
seniman.

Target Language
Barli was trained intensively to see objects differently, because
at that time, realistic painting was still popular. Thus,
Pluimentz, (the teacher), always said that how an artist views
an object had to be differents from a layperson. Ordinari
people did not see the artistic aspect of an object as an artist
did.
