    AfterweeksofstrugglingtogetaninterviewIfinallygotonesetup.Iinterviewed
    DanOlsenheisthedirectoroftheSanJuanCitizensAlliancegroup,itisanonprofit
    organizationthatsmaingoalistoensuenatureistakencareofinourcommunity.
    DuringmyinterviewDanandIdiscussedalotabouttheriverandthespillect.Itwasa
    challengeatfirstbecauseIcouldnotprintmyquestionsfortheinterview,butIrealized
    halfwaythroughitwasmoreofablessing.Itfeltmorelikeaninsightfulconversation
    betweenusthenainterviewforclass.

    IthinkIgotastrongperspectiveonhowthisspillisaffectingthoseinthe
    community.Thelocalslostariver,probablythemostimportantthinginourtownordid
    they.WhenconductingmyinterviewwithDanOlsen,theDirectoroftheSanJuan
    CitizensAlliance,talktomeabouthowmanylocalsandespeciallytherafting
    companiesaretakingthespillhardfinanciallyandemotionally.Allthoughwhenonour
    triptoSilvertonwhentalkingwithsomeofthestudentsattheschoolthere,they
    discussedhowtheyswaminitlikenothingeverhappened.Theysaidthefillhadno
    affectonhowtheyfeltabouttheriver.

    IthinkIreallylearnedaboutpeoplethroughthisproject.Howsomethingas
    simpleasarivercouldcaresomuchtothepublic.Itooktheriverforgranite,Ididnt
    careabouttheriveruntilthishappened.AsthesayinggoesYoudontknowhowmuch
    somethingmatterstillitsgone.ThepeopleItalkedtoabouttherivershowedme
    passionandlovefortheriver.NowIlookattheriverinawholenewway.
