BBB tips to avoid becoming
a >ictim of deceptive offers:
Deal only with reputable
fIrms.
Don't be pressured into buy
ing something you don't want
or need. Get bids from other
companies for comparison.
Factor in the monthly moni
toring fee when comparing
costs.
Check out local regulations
regarding burglar alarm
responses and associated fees.
Be sure to check out the
monitoring company as well
as the alarm equipment com
pany.
Questions to ask when con
sidering an alarm system:
Who does the company call
- you or the police?
Does the company have a
security patrol car 10 check on
an alarm before notifying the
police?
How soon after the alarm
sounds will you be notified'/
If the alarm company is
unable to reach you when the
alarm is sounding ....
Is the alarm reset?
Are the police called?
Are alternate numbers called?
Are the procedures in writing
so that you are aware of the
steps and can anticipate how
you can best handle the situa
don?
