Safety Precautions
Thunderstorms
Do not work with electrical current in elevated or exposed locations during a thunderstorm.
Microwave
High-power radio frequency signals are harmful. Avoid exposure to transmissions from the antenna of working
microwave equipment that has this radiation warning symbol (
tower or pole bearing multiple antennas, avoid exposure to radiation from the other antennas.
Laser
Always wear protective glasses or goggles when you look into an optical port.
High temperature
If the ambient temperature reaches 55, the surface temperature of the RTN 380 and PI panel may exceed 70.
Wear protective gloves if you must handle the RTN 380 or power injector (PI) panel. A high-temperature warning
label (

Different methods can be used to change the polarization direction of antennas. If the method described in this document is not suitable for the type of antenna you have, use the method described in the installation manual delivered with your antennas.
The polarization direction of antennas is vertical by default. If the planned polarization direction is horizontal, change the polarization direction to horizontal.
If an antenna with a diameter of 0.3 m or 0.6 m is used in a direct mount and 1+0 scenario, you may install the RTN 380 on the antenna and then hoist them both into position on the tower.
Before installing an 8-core P&E cable, bind the cable section linking the cable connector to the pole. This will protect the cable connector from damage. Be sure that the length of cable running from the binding point to the RTN 380 is sufficient to attach the cable
connector to the P&E port on the RTN 380.

Aligning Antennas
Aligning Single-Polarized Antennas
Use the installation positions and heights of local and remote antennas to determine their
azimuths. Adjust the pitch angles of the antennas to the horizontal position.
Loosen/tighten the elevation adjustment screw to move the local antenna vertically.
Adjust the pitch angle until the RSL reaches the peak within the tracked range.
Connect a multimeter to the RSSI port on the RTN 380 at the local end and measure the
voltage value VBNC.
Repeat Steps 3 to 4 to ensure that three signal peaks are tracked in horizontal and
vertical directions. When the local RSL reaches the maximum peak value, secure the
local antenna.
Adjust the remote antenna to ensure that the RSL at the local end and the RSL at
the remote end reach the peak value.
Tighten all screws on both antennas after the alignment is complete.
USB/RSSI/NMS
If three signal peaks are tracked, adjust the azimuth of the antenna until the received
signal level (RSL) reaches the peak value at position 2.
If two signal peaks are tracked, adjust the azimuth of the antenna until the RSL reaches
the middle between positions 4 and 5. Then, adjust the pitch angle of the antenna using
the elevation adjustment screw until the three signal peaks on the line AA' appear. Finally,
adjust the azimuth of the antenna until the RSL reaches the peak value at position 2.
If one signal peak is tracked, adjust the azimuth of the antenna until the RSL reaches the
middle between positions 6 and 7. Then, adjust the pitch angle of the antenna using the
elevation adjustment screw until the three signal peaks on the line AA' appear. Finally,
adjust the azimuth of the antenna until the RSL reaches the peak value at position 2.

Apply 2 kg of force to pull the cable and check whether the cable
is secured in the connector.
Cables are not bent or twisted and the shield layer of the power cable is intact.
There is a drip loop in the cable after it leaves the RTN 380.
There is a drip loop in the cable before it enters the equipment room.
The minimum bending radius of the cables is greater than 30 cm (11.8 inches).
Cables are bound to the cable ladder or tray at intervals of approximately 1 m (3.28 feet).
Binding tapes are cut off with an excess section reserved at the ends.
10
Attach and bind cable labels correctly. Labels must be aligned and face the same direction.
11
The redundant cable is coiled into a roll with a diameter not less than 60 cm (23.62 inches). The roll is bound to the pole
or the tower.
12
13
The power cable does not bend in the range of 0.5 m (1.64 feet) above and below the ground clip.
14
The ground cable is routed from up to down and the angle between the ground cable and other cables is less than 15
degrees.

When the socket and shell are properly tightened, the red rubber ring on the connector cannot be seen.
No.
Check Item
Check Item
The chassis must be installed securely in the position specified in the engineering design documents.
Each chassis component does not have any paint defects, damage, or stains. Re-paint or clean components that have
defects.
The installation position and direction of the antenna meet the requirements in the engineering design documents.
The side with the broadest edge of the antenna faces upward and the side with the narrowest edge faces downward.
Cable routes comply with the engineering design documents and facilitate maintenance and expansion.
The connection between the antenna bracket and the pole complies with wind-resistance requirements.
Cables are properly bound. Cable ties are installed at equal spacing and in the same direction. The excess of cable ties is
trimmed off without leaving any sharp edges.
All screw connecting the RTN 380 to the antenna or hybrid coupler are tightened.
The four screws connecting the hybrid coupler to the antenna are tightened.
The antenna, hybrid coupler, and RTN 380 are within the protective range of the lightning arrester (the protection angle of
the lightning arrester should be less than 45 degrees. In mountains or areas prone to thunder, the angle should be less
than 30 degrees).
Cable labels are filled in correctly and attached securely. They are aligned and face to the same direction. Preferably, the
labels are attached 2 cm away from the connectors.
10
The power cable and ground cable are routed separately from signal cables.
11
After the check is complete, power on the RTN 380 immediately to avoid moisture collecting inside the RTN 380.
