Photography Planning

For my magazine I will need to take a range of photographs that

mimic and are in a similar style to those that I have researched into.
I will also try and find an individual style that also conveys my niche
market.

Research Photographs

These photographs have

some of the poses, styles
and costume that I would
like to incorporate into my
own.

Poses

In my photographs I will need to experiment with different poses,

dependant on the model, the lighting and the costume in each shot.
I will also use props to determine the poses of my models. I will be
using mainly female models because my magazine is aimed at a
largely female audience.
Costume

In my photographs I will have my models wearing a range of outfits

and use a wide variety of props. My magazine is aimed at a niche
audience of female ‘indie’ fans, so I will be using costumes that
these women may wear themselves. However I will also be ensuring
my models have unique costumes because I feel that the ideology
behind ‘indie’ fashion is to be individualistic and I want this to be
obvious in my photos. I will be using props such as umbrellas,
flowers, cigarettes, phones and jewellery to add uniqueness to each
shot.

Makeup

For each group of shots I will be experimenting with a variety of

makeup and accessories. In conjunction with my ‘indie’ target
audience I will be experimenting with heavy makeup, glitter and
neon colours. I will also look into using face paint and coloured hair.

Facial Expressions

I will use a range of models for my photography and each model will
use a range of facial expressions. I feel that even though my
magazine is aimed towards a niche audience, any facial expression
would be appropriate. I will ensure that I have a definite range of
expressions however, ranging from wide smiles to sadness to silly
faces.

Group Photos

As well as ensuring I have a wide range of photographs of singular

models I will also be taking a series of photos that include two or
more models. These will most likely be for my double page spread.

Backgrounds and Scenery

For my photographs I will be using a range of backdrops including

bedroom, stairwells and outdoors. I will also ensure I get some
photographs that have a plain background.
