Major and Minor

Opening the door to your future at Winthrop University

begins with choosing the right major or minor.

It is normal for college students to question whether

they picked the right major or to have trouble deciding
which one to choose in the first place. The Major
Minor Fair will be a key resource in opening the door
to your future.

At the Major Minor Fair on Oct, 17, you can survey

the many majors and minors Winthrop offers.
Representatives from every major and minor will be
available to answer your questions. The Major Minor
Fair is designed to help you see the wide variety of
options at Winthrop and help you open the door to
your future. The fair will be held at the Richardson
Ballroom in the DiGiorgio Center at 11 a.m.

A good way to get a head start in choosing your major

is to think about what interests you. There is a good
chance that there will be a major or minor to match.
LaLa Duncan and Jacob Rosser chose their majors
and minors based on their unique interests.

Ive always been interested in crime shows

and why people commit crimes, so a
criminology concentration happened to be
perfect for me.

Why Should You Choose A Major?

The sooner you become involved in your major or
minor, the more likely you are to feel a sense of
belonging and be successful in college. Choosing the
right major or minor will help you graduate on time and
give your educational goals a sense of direction.
Many of the majors at Winthrop offer organizations for
students that focus on the area of study. By joining
departmental organizations, you can network with your
peers, cultivate relationships and learn more about
your career goals. The sooner you choose a major
and minor, the closer you are to earning a college
degree.
