Experiment no 1: Study of Microwave Components and Instruments


Objective: To become familiar with microwave components and instruments
available in the laboratory.

Experiment no 2: Reflex Klystron Characteristics


Objective: To study mode characteristics of reflex klystron and hence to determine
mode number, transit time, electronic tuning ranges (ETR) and electronic tuning
sensitivity (ETS).

Experiment no 3: Frequency Measurement


Objective: To examine the frequency characteristics of klystrons and also to
become familiar with typical microwave frequency measurements.

Experiment no 4: Measuring VSWR


Objective: To become familiar with the basic technique for measuring voltage
standing wave ratio.

Experiment no 5: Attenuation Characteristics


Objective: To study the attenuation characteristics of a variable attenuator.

Experiment no 6: Study of Gunn Oscillator


Objective: To study I-V Characteristics of Gunn Diode.

Experiment no 7: Properties of Directional Coupler


Objective: To measure coupling factor, directivity and insertion loss of a directional
coupler.

Experiment no 8: Study of Power Division in Magic Tee


Objective: To measure isolation between E and H arms of the magic tee &
Demonstrate 3dB power division in the side arm of the magic tee.

Experiment no 9: Circulator Characteristics


Objective: To study operation of ferrite circulator and hence measure insertion loss
and isolation offered by this device.

Experiment no 10: Horn Antenna Characteristics


Objective: To obtain the radiation pattern of a Horn antenna.
