BACK TO SCHOOL

Salem Middle School

THIS WEEKS LESSON

Monday: We are doing introductions, going over


the syllabus and completing the course pretest.

INTRODUCTION OF TEACHING
My name is Ms. Acquanetta Parrott and
I will be teaching your child eighth
grade Georgia History at Salem Middle
School.

Tuesday: Students will learn about the


development of Native American Cultures
Wednesday: Students will learn about the impact
of European exploration and settlement in the
Native American cultures in Georgia.

I am in my first year of teaching in the


DeKalb County School System and I am
very excited to be a part of a system that
is about progression, purpose, and
prosperity. Following the school
systems mission of maximizing
students academic and social potential
preparing them to compete in a global
society. This class is designed to
engage students in ways that will help
them beat standardized test objectives
and move towards ways to overcome
obstacles in real life. Furthermore, I look
forward to engaging, inspiring and
transforming lives of the students who
enter my classroom. Parents, let us be
mindful that it takes a village to raise a
child.

Thursday: Students will receive their pre-test


scores; evaluate their understanding of chapter 1
vocabulary terms and complete KWL charts.

Friday: Finish KWL charts and complete quiz on


sections 1 and 2 of chapter.
GEORGIA PERFORMANCE STANDARD
SS8H1: The student will evaluate the development
of Native American cultures and the impact of
European exploration and settlement on the Native
American cultures in Georgia.
A. Describe the evolution of Native American
cultures (Paleo, Archaic, Woodland, and
Mississippian) prior to European contact.

C. Explain reasons for European exploration and


settlement of North America, with emphasis on
the interests of French, Spanish, and British in
the southeastern area.
