Statement of the Problem


This study aims to find out the influence of cooperative
learning strategies used by the teachers to the social skills
of pupils in multigrade setting.
Specifically, this will attempt to answer the following
questions:
1. What is the extent of cooperative learning strategies
used by teachers?
2. What is the level of the social skills of the pupils in
terms of:
2.1 understanding emotions;
2.2 self-regulation;
2.3 flexibility; and
2.4 problem solving?
3. Is there a significant relationship between the
cooperative learning strategies used by teachers and the

This study is founded on the philosophy of
Education Research Consumer Guide which
states that student achievement in cooperative
learning is best promoted when two necessary
key elements, which are group goal and
individual accountability, are used together. In
order for members of a group to reach the
common goal, they must utilize adequate
