EVENT: To construct a folding bridge.
MATERIAL REQUIRED:

Popsicle sticks (only).

Fevicol.
Cotton threads.
Pulleys.
Hinges of any type for fold joints.

CONSTRAINTS:
1. There should be only three folds, without any kind of support (i.e. 4 members- first member being
fixed.)
2. Folding must be such that each successive member should completely rest over the preceding
member.
3. You cannot use any threads other than the cotton threads.
4. Folding \unfolding mechanism should be over the overhang behind the vertical piers provided at the
specified distance (see figure).
5. Truss making is not mandatory. You can make the bridge without the truss, only criteria is that the
bridge should be able to Fold and unfold by the same mechanism only.
6. The base area at the supports (area surrounded by the piers) must be 20 cm X 20 cm.

7. Piers and Base of the piers can be of any material, but the span and truss (if used) should be only of
the Popsicle sticks.
8. The length of the last member of the bridge should be 10cm.
9. The minimum width of the path should not be less than one Popsicle stick length.

JUDGING CRITERIA:
Load testing will be done by placing the loads on the free end of the span.
