Specific Objective: By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to define what a
noun, adjective, and verb is and will be able to give an example for each. They will
coordinate each aspect of language with a physical movement.
Concomitant Objective: The students will stay physically active.

Warm Up: NONE NEEDED

Transition:
- Students sitting at their seats to begin.
Set Induction:
- Raise your hand if youve ever read or could think of
a really good book!
- What makes these books good are smaller parts of
the sentences called nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
1 Minute Learnable Piece:
- Today we will be learning about nouns, verbs and
adjectives. You will be able to identify what each of
these parts of language are and will be able to give
me one example of each.

Transition:

- When I call your row please come up to get an index
card and worksheet. Remember to keep your word a
secret!
- Row 1.row 2.row 3.
- When everyone is seated again we can begin.
- During this game you will need to remember if you
are a noun, verb or adjective. Everyone has a
different word.
- Your goal is to fill out the chart by coordinating with
your classmates. You do this by going up to a
classmate and making a specific movement to show
what category your word is under. Then, you will act
out your noun, verb, or adjective for your classmate
to guess. After the word is guessed you can write in
on your chart and move on.
- Try to talk to as many classmates as you can!
- The movements are:
o Nouns: 1 pencil jump
o Verbs: 1 jumping jack

- Remember to be safe and aware of your personal
space when making your movements.
- I will ask you to go back to your seats when the
activity is over.
CHECKING FOR UNDERSTANDING:
If you are a noun what movement do you make?
(1 pencil jump)
If you are a verb what movement do you make?
(1 jumping jack)
If you are an adjective what movement do you
make? (1 squat)
Do we talk during this activity? NO! We only show
our words by movements.

o Nouns: bird, tree, fish, sun, rain, shoes, baby
o Verbs: fishing, skipping, paint, cry, gallop,

small, fast
