ANCHOR BAR

4.9.1 GENERAL

This section covers the complete detailing, supply and installation of anchor bar. This
work consist of drilling, installation anchor bar & grouting by mortar.
4.9.2 EXECUTION

4.9.2.1

General

The general design of anchor bar to be applied in the excavation surface of rock and
placement on the downstream of weir. The rockbolt shall be carried out in the pattern
and requires as indicated like drawing or as directed by the owner or as proposed by
the contractor and agreed by the owner.
4.9.2.2

Drilling

Standard percussion drilling equipment may be used for drilling anchor bar. The
anchor bar shall be installed in holes of diameter 25 mm to 30 mm greater than the
maximum diameter of anchor bar and will be such that for the anchorage used. In
case where is in necessary length of the grouted bar to achieve the total length of
bar required. Immediately prior to installation of any anchor bar, the hole shall be
flushed with water and cleaned of all drill cuttings and debris to the satisfaction of the
owner.
4.9.2.3

Installation

The method of installation of anchor bar shall be to the approval of the owner. The
anchor bar shall be inserted in the hole and the anchorage firmly. Prior to installing
the anchor bar, the rock surface shall be prepared to provide that.
4.9.2.4

Grouting

The grouting shall be puposed in recordance with the spesification in drilling and
grouting. The water/cement ratio by weight shall be between 0,30 to 0,45. Special
agreed admixture shall be added to the grout to prevent shrinkage. Grout shall be
forced into the dril hole at appropriate point completely fill the space all around the
anchor bar. The grouting material should be filled with the gravity flow system to the
drill hole adequately. If during the grouting of any anchor bar, grout is found to flow
from points in the rock surfaces adjacent to the anchor bar, such leak shall be
plugged or caulked.
The contarctor shall ensure that the grouted anchor bars are neither loosed nor
disturbin any way until at least 7 days after completion of grouting.
