INTERSECTION
(Performance Analysis Intersection)

Congestion in the city of Bandung are usually occurred at the


intersection both signalized and unsignalized intersection. This is due to
changes of traffic conditions are not accompanied by changes in traffic
arrangements in an intersection. So that it is necessary to analyse the
intersections in the city of Bandung. One of them is the intersection of Jl.
Setiabudhi - Jl. Sersan Bajuri Bajuri. Analysis were performed by
comparing the average delay between the intersection with no signal and
with using a traffic signal. And found that by using the signal at
intersection is better than without the use of traffic signals. Average
intersection delay for unsignalized intersection obtained 13, 27, and 45
seconds/smp each for period of dawn, day light and afternoon. In the
morning period, the degree of saturation is as high as 1.56, so that the
delay value is so high and it is not possible to analyze with MKJI method.
While the average intersection delay when the intersection is using a
traffic signal is10 , 16, 15, and 15 seconds/smp each for period of dawn,
morning, daylight and afternoon. The decreasing is very high with the
percentage decrease 26% in the morning, 45% and 66% during the period
of daylight and afternoon. Therefore the traffic arrangements at this
intersection should be reviewedagain due to the use of traffic signals,
delays can be decreased until 66%.
Setting by using the signal at the intersection of Jl. Setiabudi - Jl.
Sergeant Bajuri better compared without using traffic signals. A decrease
in the average intersection delay after traffic signal installed MKJI method
is 26% to dawn, 45% for lunch and 66% for the afternoon. As for the
morning period, percent decline is very high. While to methods of

Webster, the decline was 8%, 44% and 56% respectively for the period
morning, afternoon and evening. The time value of green at signalized
intersection analysis should be reviewed, because there are the value of
green time under 10 seconds. Green time under 10 seconds can make it
difficult for pedestrians road to cross.
So, the purpose of traffic signals used for one or more of the grounds
following:
a. to avoid kemacetaan intersection due to high traffic flow, to guarantee
that a certain capacity can be maintained, even during peak hours of
traffic conditions
b. to allow vehicles and / or pedestrians from road intersection (small)
for / cut the main road;
