Weekly Journal: Crystal Dozier-Fairchild

For week of October 19, 2015
Week 8

This week was one of the most productive thus far. I received all the necessary data to
complete a comprehensive needs assessment. I am finished with the research part and have
updated most of the data for the final draft of the assessment.
Communication between the CEO and myself is growing. We had a meeting on Thursday
where he requested my opinion in decision making regarding staffing (or lack thereof). It was
interesting to share my thoughts and ask him the tough questions. It was great to brainstorm and
develop solutions to a real problem the organizations is struggling with.
A strength this week was my positive outlook and willingness to be assertive and problem
solve. I was able to effectively communicate with Duffy and Semia to reach solutions.
A weakness that I encountered was that I felt easily distracted by the day-to day things
that I was asked to help with. It was difficult for me to stay on task and complete my project. I
had to work through the weekend to remain caught up. I addressed this concern to Duffy at the
meeting and he is supposed to meeting with the administrative assistant to help her figure out her
role and duties in the organization.
You were spot on in the feedback you provided me, I think self-care is something I should
definitely work on. More specifically, getting proper rest. Lately, I get up at 5am and go to bed at 12 or 1
am. Lack of sleep is catching up with me. So I plan to go to bed by 10pm every night and plan my day
accordingly.
