For the week of August 31, 2015
On Tuesday September 1, 2015, I met with Duffy Samuels (CEO) and Semia Hackett
(President) of Duffys Hope. We discussed goals and expectations of internship. This was my
first meeting with Semia. As President, she organizes all of the administrative duties and will be
my initial point of contact. After our meeting, I reflected on the needs of the organization. The
organization needs assistance in data tracking, needs assessment and request for proposals. There
isnt an effective system in place to collect data for the youth being served, so I am currently
researching methods of data tracking. The needs assessment requires updating, and I will assist
in the final stages of the upcoming RFP. Duffy agreed to take me to a bidding to learn more
about the process. Duffys Hope will begin its annual program on Tuesday September 8th. We
arranged to meet next Friday September 11, 2015 to review and sign the learning contract. I am
looking forward to working in the field doing home visits and in an administrative role. I hope to
learn more about grant writing and the financial aspects of a nonprofit organization.
