STEM Academy- Our presenters did an awesome job at the conference. We got donations from many companies.
Key idea: Genius Hour
STEM CERTIFICATION: We need to get our teachers certified, getting community partners, incorporating more
math standards, and realizing that STEM can be in any subject (The Writing Process, checking and reevaluating a
project in science, correcting your mistakes in math). Our goal is for school-wide certification, so every student will
be considered a STEM student. STEM level 3 in the next two years.
Communicate to teachers and staff that there is a high demand for engineering jobs for our kids in the future and
that we should start them on this now. Also present this during a STEM Night to parents. We have to be preparing
kids for tons of jobs that dont even exist yet. *Sandras PowerPoint from Jim Hickey.

EIE Curriculum: Storybook that comes with a long unit with engineering lessons and career, math, writing
connections. We are thinking of starting it in Core-X as a staggered start to eventually incorporate into all
classrooms.
