How incorporating technology
supports the school’s vision

 Vision Statement
 Legacy Traditional School’s vision is to positively impact the
education of every student.

 Finding ways to positively impact students through technology
within the classroom
 Increasing engagement for every student
How incorporating technology
supports the school’s mission
 Mission Statement
 Legacy Traditional School’s mission is to provide motivated students
with the opportunity to achieve academic excellence in an
accelerated, back to basics, safe learning environment taught by
caring, knowledgeable, and highly effective educators in cooperation
with supportive involved parents.

 Goals:
 Motivating students
 Safe learning environment while using discourse
 Providing knowledge for educators
Learning objectives

 Understand how to incorporate technology into a variety of

lessons
 Understand best practices for technology within a specific
content area
 Create engaging lessons for students while using technology
 Incorporate technology into their own lessons
Technology Activities

 In Science Dimensions, your students will have the

opportunity to view and use the following on the mobile
computer lab and be involved in discourse:
 Videos
 Google Classroom
 Paint (drawing)
 Typing responses
 Virtue Field Trips
 Google Forms
Lesson Overview

 Science Dimensions Lesson

 Topic: Matter
 Subtopic: How are Objects Put Together?
 Material Needed: Computers, Science consumable workbook, lab
materials (clay and toothpicks), student login information
 Lesson Length: 2 weeks (10 days)
Lesson Activities
 Day 1
 Introduce the lessons subtopic with online curriculum showing a
preview picture

 Day 2
 Discuss how one object can be taken apart and transformed into
another object.
 Students can type responses or use paint to draw up their own
creations of what they would make.

 Day 3
 Build it Up, Break it down – students design their own building
through paint on a computer and then record similarities and
differences with a partner
Lesson Activities
 Day 4
 Google Classroom Response Question – How can different objects be
made from the same set of pieces?

 Day 5
 Using online curriculum answer questions about similarities
 Watch online videos to prepare for upcoming lab
 Day 6
 Set up for in class lab (review videos)
 Using science consumable book determine material and question for
lab

 Day 7
 Complete steps 1, 2, 3, 4 for lab in small groups
 Review videos to provide insight for each step
Lesson Activities
 Day 8
 Take it Further – understand Careers in Science and Engineering through
a video, record on Google Classroom “What kind of structure would you
like to build?”

 Day 9
 Lesson Check – review what the lesson was about and what the
students learned
 Google Classroom Response – “How did the first object become a
different one?” (use as a comparison from the beginning of the lesson
 Day 10
 Self Check – completed individually on computers through the online
curriculum program
 Assessment on “How are Objects Put Together?”
Lesson Assessment

 Science Lab
 Written Assessment
 Google Classroom
Responses
Your Turn

 Take one lesson and break it down

 How long should this lesson be? 1 week? 2 weeks?
 Plan each day one at a time
 How will you incorporate technology?
 What ways will you challenge your students through the use of
technology?
 Will you use Google Classroom for discussions?
 How else will you incorporate technology beyond watching the
videos?
