Sir Sandford Fleming

Sir Sandford Fleming, was a Scottish-born


Canadian engineer and inventor. He proposed
worldwide standard time zones, designed
Canada's first postage stamp, left a huge body of
surveying and map making, engineered much of
the Intercolonial Railway and the Canadian Pacific
Railway, and was a founding member of the Royal
Society of Canada and founder of the Royal
Canadian Institute, a science organization in
Toronto.

retired Canadian
astronaut who was the
first Canadian to walk in
space. An engineer and
former Royal Canadian Air
Force fighter pilot,
Hadfield has flown two
space shuttle missions
and served as commander
of the International Space
Station.

and took the position of Chancellor of Queen's
University in Kingston, Ontario
