Subject: My first few weeks at CSUN
Hello Dr. Kenneth Lord,
My name is Yulissa Reyes and I am writing you today to tell you about my experience so
far as a freshman attending CSUN. Its such a beautiful and friendly campus. Everyone is so
welcoming and willing to help each other out during this new chapter in our lives. You must be
very proud to be the Dean of this wonderful university.
My experience so far here has gone pretty well. I was able to find out where all my
classes are located, thanks to the maps around the school. All my teachers seem to be well
educated teachers and dont seem to waste anyones time during the class. Its very nice to know
that college isnt as scary as others plan it out to be. The campus environment is relaxed even
though there is about 40,000 students that attend CSUN; it doesnt seem to get very hectic.
During these past few weeks, Ive had to learn to not procrastinate like I used to in high
school. College is quite different from high school for many reasons. One reason is that in high
school you would be looked at differently if you were by yourself but in college its a normal
thing to be alone. I honestly prefer to be alone sometimes because then I am able to get some
work done.
Im glad that I chose to go to CSUN rather than any other Cal State or UC in California.
Im also very proud to be a Matador. I believe I made the right choice for myself. CSUN is now
my second home, even though I wasnt able to dorm this semester; I plan on dorming in the
spring if there is any available spots open. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to
read my letter.
Sincerely, Yulissa Reyes
