Dear Mrs.

Nelson,

I am a PS1 student at the University of Lethbridge completing my combined degree in English

and Education. I graduated from Western Canada High School in Calgary, Alberta in 2019 and previously

have attended schools in both the Catholic sector and in the private sector. I have worked as an overnight

camp counsellor at Camp Cadicasu out in Kananaskis in the summer months and enjoyed my time there

very much. I have also worked as a counsellor at day camps for the City of Calgary which taught me a lot

about the importance of time management.

I have wanted to be a teacher since I first learned the value of education, and the skills it provides

students with to better their lives. I struggled academically in both elementary and middle school, only

finally finding my wings near the end of high school. I believe that the classroom should be a safe and fun

environment, which creates a positive relationship with education wherein the students can build a

lifelong love for learning. It is never too late to foster a love for learning, and I believe that it is my

responsibility to inspire every student that I am given the privilege to teach.

Outside of school, I like to spend my free time hiking, spending time with my friends, and

attempting to build some proficiency in the art of crafting (I have a long way to go!) I am someone who

likes to be kept busy and challenged. I enjoy trying new things and taking risks. I am not very gifted in

maths, but I enjoy reading and writing. Even though I am an English student, I haven’t always enjoyed

reading I couldn’t read proficiently until the sixth grade. I found my passion for reading through the

freedom that my imagination gave me to travel to whatever world I wished to visit, and I want nothing

more than to open up those worlds to my students.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, I was not able to do my ED2500 in a classroom, and therefore

this will be my first time teaching a class. I am nervous but excited and confident in my abilities, and I

can’t wait to learn under your guidance. I am a resilient, creative, and enthusiastic student and person, and

I just know that with your help I will be an amazing educator. I am so passionate about this profession and
I am so grateful that I have been given the opportunity to work with you! I am very excited to learn more

about lesson planning and classroom management, as well as how to balance this profession with my

personal life. I can not wait to meet you and get started on this incredible journey I have been blessed to

set out on.

Thank you for taking the time to be my Teacher Associate, I truly appreciate you, and I am so

excited to get started!

Best,

Ellen Williams
