Teaching is not just providing learnings it is also about being open to suggestions and adapting
to change. If you really want your teaching Social Studies in Elementary to be effective there's a lot of
means that will make you realize that the ideas of others in teaching will be a big help also change is
inevitable, find or develop a plan of instructing that can be applicable to all of your students. Worrying
about their differences, will lead you into different methods and strategies that will be helpful for them.
With the learning materials sent to me, I think when the time comes as I will teach the subject I don't
have to worry anymore. I can utilze the information from it and if given a chance will improve them base
on what is needed in the situation. Reading and watching the given materials for 4 weeks, these are
what I've learned;

On the first week, I've learned that the best practice for teaching the subject in the elementary
is to introduce students to primary sources by story telling or narrating what have been discovered and
ask their opinions about it, for example discovering an artifact. If you will present the original together
with it's representation or replica, it's important to make them realize that it's best to learn to evaluate
both sides. You can instruct them to think as a historian, where they should observe and study every
sources presented to them. You can ask them what they have notice with the two, if they have
difference or there are details that are not included on one. For achieving the teaching in action,
crowdsourcing your students and ask them their opinions will make the class interactive and lively.
Ofcourse you can share some true to life experiences that is related to the topic for them to understand
more what you are pertaining. Also don't forget that your goal is to make them apply what they have
learned, on their daily lives.

On the second week, I've learned that the balancing instruction in teaching the subject in the
elementary is conducive. You can enhance their universal skills when you are teaching, but ofcourse it
should be practice regularly in order for the students to master those. Reading, writing, and speaking
skills when refined, it will give them advantage in every path they will choose. In the future I will surely
make my students master those, in order to save them from difficulty of learning. Because they can use
those skills to comprehensively acquire the information that have been taught. Another way is to let
them obtain the skills through the content you want them to learn. For example, instead of pushing
them to read the whole page on the book expecting to memorize every detail of it. The teacher should
teach students on how to understand the lesson itself by making them realize on what skills they need,
to absorb effectively the important details and not every particulars or information on the book. Which
gives the students the idea that history related subjects are boring. Cutting the stigma, the teacher
should give the students the opportunity to explore to find the skills that can improve their way of
learning in the subject.

On the third week, I've learned that being a modern day teacher and having contemporary
students requires a 21st century approach in teaching. One of the approach in concept and strategies
given in the materials, is the Universal Design for Learning, which a pedagogy that fasten on boosting
students with diverse learning to be successful. This framework tends to reduce barriers and increase
access to education for students. Making students to realize, why they should learn the lesson. What
they can do for their learning to be more effective, and for teachers to teach the lesson less
complicated. And how they will utilize the learnings and apply it on their daily lives. These should be the
top concerns of teachers when teaching the students. There are still lot of approaches stated on the
materials but their contexts was somehow similar to each other, so I've already listed the summary of
the content, above.

On the last week, I've learned the different abilities that the students should master by the help
of the teacher and take to consider when assessing and evaluating their students. It can be skill in
problem solving, critical thinking, and the present-day digital literacy. Those skills may be already inside
the students, but the role of the teachers is to hone them and make it utilized by the students in order
to have a great future. While students should have those skills to be developed, the teachers should
think for a strategy that is applicable to all students. Because it's a mortal sin as an educator to left even
just one student behind. Also, they should include technology on their instructions as what the current
situation demands. And giving their students the secured feeling of concern, care, attachment, and
assurance of learning. Motivates them to be eager to learn and participate in the discussion. Lastly,
being free to adjustments and open to change, as teaching requires flexibility.

Those are what I've learned and discovered on the learning materials provided. In a nutshell,
teaching Social Studies in the Elementary demands us a lot of effort and collective ideas. Being
contented is not advisable, you should come out and dig deeper on all the things you can apply in
teaching. Giving your hundred percent labor and action in every thing you do will give you more
possibility of success.
