To become an educator has always been my aspiration since I was a child. I can still
remember my passion and enthusiasm as I gathered all the stuffed toys at home and taught them
how to read using a charcoal and banana leaves as my materials for teaching. I always wanted to
extend my knowledge, skills and compassion to educate and hone learners to enhance what
they’re best at, and to discover their inner talent or skills just like what my previous teachers did
to me. Thus, I pursued Bachelor of Secondary Education and graduated with flying colours
despite of hardships on finances given that we are from a less fortunate family.

With more than three months of On-The-Job-Training, I have learned how to deal with
different types of learners. I have come up with a lot of strategy to keep their focus on learning.
It was a challenge to me at first because some of them were older than me but after I discovered
their way of learning that became an advantage. Students will learn faster if you can relate to
them. It feels rewarding if you let them learn and discover things to uncover the solutions for
each topic that they don’t understand because they will never forget the knowledge if they were
the ones who came up with the resolution.

After college, I have instilled in me all the knowledge that I’ve learnt from my courses
and brought it with me and I want to pass on the wisdom that I’ve learnt from my experience to
my future students. With all the motivation and inspiration to becoming a teacher, I took the
Licensure Examination for Teachers on the same year after graduation and by The Almighty’s
grace I was able to pass the exam and got my license to teach on December 2019. On the
following year, I partake on the series of examination to be listed on the Registry of the Qualified
Applicants for Teacher 1 position in public schools in my country, Philippines, which I also
passed. I’m grateful and honoured that out of hundreds of applicants in my town I was listed rank
4 on my major (Mathematics). It has been my dream to teach, it’s my passion but I have declined
the offer. I wanted to explore, see the world, meet new people, and I wanted to teach on a foreign
country and that urged me to process my passport even though I’m not sure yet if I can go abroad
and teach because of the pandemic. So I’ve decided to find a job first that would sustain our
finances and also improve my communication skills. Thus, I have applied as a Customer Service
Representative. I thought I will only last a month or two in there but it’s more than a year now
and I’m doing great with my job, it’s just like facilitating learning online but I still wanted to
pursue my career, teaching profession.

As a result, I enrolled myself on an online course for Teaching English as a Foreign

Language Certificate. I wanted to go back on track. I looked for teaching job listings online and
Google brought me to ph.jora.com which advertise your openings. I said to myself that I won’t
miss this opportunity. It will be an honour and privilege to be one of your teachers. Prior to
seeing the job listing, I’m already fascinated by the country. I’ve been watching videos of my
fellow Filipinos working in there and I love it, the people are kind and approachable, and the
culture is rich. The means of living is affordable and also students are easy to deal with. I wanted
to be there and take part on the responsibility on teaching students to learn English and not only
that but also teach them how to cope with life. I believed that with all the knowledge and wisdom
that I’ve learnt I can be able to perform well on teaching profession.

If I will be given a chance to be one of your teachers, I will do my best to carry on the
teaching philosophy of my professor in college which is never to leave the classroom if one of
your students didn’t understand a thing of your lesson. Always make a way to come up with a
strategy that everyone can understand so that no students will be left behind. I wanted to let the
learners feel that they’re not alone and that they have me to guide them because for me the
biggest responsibility of being a teacher is getting the trust of his or her students.
