TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be interviewed for this position today.
I applied for this position because I'm interested in being a full-time faculty member at
this school Having obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education major in
English at the same school I am confident that I can be part of this institution to mold
more students to be ready in their chosen field because they did the same to me by
giving me the knowledge and skills needed to help my future students to achieve their
dreams. I know I lack experience in teaching as I am a fresh graduate, however, I can
assure you that I do possess the skills necessary for this position, to name a few, I have
knowledge about curricula and modern teaching methods, and technology options used
in Traditional Lecture classrooms. In addition, I have also done my on-the-job training
before. Therefore I believe that I have the skills and ability required to take on this
position.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO WORK HERE?

As I said earlier, I finished my studies here and I know the capability of this school in
terms of providing the students with the competitive skills and knowledge that will make
them prepared and equipped to meet the demands of the new millennium and I want to
be one of the living proof of that. I also love that the nstp dep is doing some charity and
volunteering work. I've volunteered with a different organization in the past years after I
took the nstp here, and being a part of an institution that also values giving back to
others is really important to me.

WHAT IS YOUR WEAKNESS AND STRENGTH

I have a lot of weaknesses such as speaking in English. I know it's ironic

because I studied English as a major but I'm scared to be judged by others
especially if I made a mistake in speaking but I'm always trying to practice
because practice makes perfect. As my strength I'm good at handling students
who have difficulty in learning because I remember when I was a student teacher
I had a student who found English hard and my first step was to pull the student
aside and talk about the issue privately. My main questions would be at the root
cause of this student’s behavior. Once I know that, I try to work with them to
come up with a solution. And that's my greatest strength.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO TEACH?

I actually don't have any plans to be a teacher because as I grow up I’m surrounded by
relatives who are teachers. from my aunts to cousins and I saw how much paper work
they did and I don't want that but everything changed when I met my high school
science teacher who gave a big impact on my life. I really admired my 9th-grade
teacher, Ma’am Marbida, and even after I left her class I still returned to her for advice
and guidance over the years. It’s that sense of warmth and acceptance she provided me
that inspired me to become a teacher. I want to be that person others can lean on as they
navigate the rough waters of growing up.

How would you handle a student you found difficult to teach?

For me, the first step would be to pull them aside and talk about the issue privately. My
main questions would get at the root cause of this student’s behavior. Once I know that,
I try to work with them to come up with a solution.

What do you believe is the role of technology in the classroom?

I think that technology in the classroom can be a valuable tool in helping students learn.
That being said, technology can also be distracting, so setting expectations for
appropriately using tech is critical. Students should be able to use the technology for
learning in addition to basic skills so I give them assignments that require advanced use
of the technology to complete the work. For example, I may include formatting
requirements with their writing assignments, so they're progressively learning to format
throughout the year. This allows the students to become more comfortable with
different platforms and sets them up for success in their future workplace.

What questions do you have for me?

What qualities make someone successful here?

What qualities do you look for in a candidate?

Why should we hire you?

Anyone can become a teacher, but it takes a lot of effort and time to train yourself to be a
good teacher and mentor. I am confident that I am the right choice to be hired as a
teacher at your school because I have an inherent ability to reach out to students. They
respond well to me. Apart from the subject matter, I provide my students with advice
and mentoring, which makes it easy for them to connect with me. A good
teacher-student connection is a beautiful thing that resulted in good grades for my
students.
