Mrs.

Dosumus Grading System


On the achievement record your child will receive either an A, B, C, or D. Therefore, I will
be sending home these same scores on his/her papers/tests. Heres what it means..
100%

Your child is meeting and/or exceeding


grade level standards. This would be a
percentage score of 100%.

80-99%

Your child is meeting grade level standards.


He/she is making few mistakes on his/her
work. This would be a percentage score
anywhere between 80-99%.

65-79%

Your child is progressing towards the grade


level standard. He/she is having some
difficulties with the material being taught.
This would be a percentage score of
anywhere between 79-65%.

Below 65% Your child needs support in meeting grade


level standards. He/she is making many
mistakes and struggling with the material being taught.

*All work that is turned in after the assigned due date will have
points deducted for lateness.

MAJOR GRADES FOR 4th Grade
Major Grades could include:

Chapter Tests
Unit Tests
Projects (Science Fair, Book Reports)
Essays
Presentations

MINOR GRADES FOR 4th Grade


Minor grades could include:
Daily classroom grades (Daily
Comprehension, Worksheets, Math
drills, etc.)
Quizzes
Class participation/Homework

Daily Work/Independent Practice


Reading: Students will be participating in daily reading in the classroom. It will
help them gain information and participate in various class activities.
Independent Practice: You will have independent practice in the classroom. There
will be sufficient time given for these assignments to be completed in class.
Students should use their time effectively to ensure that they are able to complete
these assignments.

Class Participation/Homework
Class participation, daily work, and homework are graded for accuracy and
completion.
Homework packets are generally given every week on Friday, and will always be
due by the Friday of the next week.

Homework may be online through Moby Max, Scootpad, or Raz-Kids, or it may be


given as a hard copy to the students. Parents will be notified when a paper copy
will be going home.

Quizzes and Tests


Quizzes (Formative Assessments): Quizzes are formative assessments that are
generally given once we have completed our material on our lesson for the week.
o Quizzes are short and cover the learning objectives of the week.
Tests (Summative Assessments): When units are completed, tests are given.
o Tests generally will occur as a unit is finished. Students will be given a
weeks notice to a test date.

In Class Work
In Class Activities: These will be things such as math and reading fluency
assessments and other various activities that we complete throughout the day
that pertain to our daily lesson.

Essay/Presentations/Projects
Essays: There will be multiple writing assignments given throughout the year.
Students will be expected to use Standard English grammar and punctuation
appropriately.
Presentation and Projects: There will be various major projects over the course of
the year. There will also be smaller projects within each unit. Students will be
required to talk in front of the class and present information and projects.
