Dia daoibh go lir a phist, a thuismitheoir agus a dhaoineuaisle go ler. Filte romhaibh!
Welcome to this years second edition of The School Chronicle the Christmas edition. Christmas,
Christmas, Christmas a time for fun, joy and laughter, but we must remember the birth of Baby
Jesus on that very first Christmas night. Dont forget to go to Mass to celebrate this marvellous
event. Its a lovely time of year to get together with family and friends. The Junior Infants, Senior
Infants and First Class did an amazing job last week as they performed their Nativity Plays. All pupils
were brilliant and we thank Ms. Keenan and Ms. Harte for inviting us to their Nativity Plays. These
brought back fond memories of our participation in these, when we were much younger. Our Carol
Service was a great success! The church was packed and we were proud of ourselves and our school. I
think our parents were impressed! Past pupil, Martin Meegan, is studying music in college, but he came
back last Friday to perform for us. He was brilliant. On the 28 th November, we had a beautiful
Confirmation Enrolment Ceremony. We made commitments and our sponsors passed on our lighted
Baptismal Candles as a sign of faith being passed on It was a wonderful occasion! Our classrooms are
well decorated with cribs and Christmas trees. Kate Lambe's granny made a beautiful Advent
Wreath. We light it everyday and reflect on the importance of Advent and Christmas. glaigh na
hEireann came to our school on the 11th November and presented us with an Irish Flag and a copy of
the Proclamation. It was a great event and we invited some members of the local Historical Society
to join us. We also invited Mrs. Carolan and Mrs. Tully. It was a beautiful ceremony and we learned
three very important rules regarding the Irish Flag. Remember: We must take the flag down before
dark! We must never write on the flag. The flag must never touch the ground. The soldiers told us
that we have to write our own proclamation for the 1916 Celebrations next year. That will be good
fun! We are preparing for the Peace Proms Concert in the R.D.S. in Dublin on the 6 th February 2016.
We will be singing and doing actions. We just love practising for this big event! The weather is
getting colder, the nights are longer and we have had a lot of rain. Perhaps we will see some snow for
Christmas a white Christmas would be amazing! Last Wednesday, all pupils and teachers went on a
Santa Fun Walk around Lough Bracken. We throughly enjoyed this and on the way back, we called in
to the Community Centre to visit Santa in his grotto. Every pupil got some treats and we sang
Christmas songs. Pupils from 5th and 6th Classes in Meath Hill N.S. and Drumconrath N.S. had lessons
on Cyber Bulling recently. It was a worthwhile experience and we are all better educated now on the
dangers attached to this. Our Badminton Tournament Finals will be held next Monday. Best of luck to
everyone! Ms. Mc Cann was here on teaching practice in Ms. Keenans Class. They miss her, but she
came back to see their Nativity Play. The Silver Circle draw was a great success. Thanks to all our
pupils, parents and friends, we raised 4,750 this year. We would like to wish you all a Merry, Merry
Christmas and a Happy New year. Hope Santa brings lots of lovely presents! Ho! Ho! Ho! Nollaig Shona
Daoibh go lir!
