Dia daoibh go lir agus filte romhaibh ar ais ar scoil! Hello everyone! Welcome to this school years
first edition of the School Chronicle. We hope everyone had an exciting and wonderful summer! We
all grew taller and are now more mature, especially 6th Class. There are 12 of us in this class. We
hope our previous 6th Class are getting on great in their new schools and thanks to Mrs. Rowe for
preparing them for the big step up. A big welcome to Ms. Harte, who joined us in September and is
now teaching Senior Infants and First Class. We also welcome our 23 new Junior Infants. Hope they
are well settled into Primary School life and enjoying their new learning experiences.
We also sadly said goodbye to our beloved and wonderful teacher, Mrs. Tully, who has taught in this
school for many, many years. We hope youre enjoying your early days of retirement, Mrs. Tully!
Fr. Connaughton gave us our date for Confirmation. It will be held in the Church of the Holy Cross,
Lobinstown,on the 18th May 2016 at 11:00am. This will be a fantastic time in our lives and our
enrolment ceremony will be held at the start of Advent. During September, we brought in items for
the Nature Table, Horse Chestnut, Ash, Sycamore, Beech, and Oak leaves are on display. Haws,
blackberries, plums, damsons, pears, apples are all to be seen in Autumn. Keep your eyes open and
find something interesting in nature for your Nature Table. The weather has been really good since
we came back to school. This is a great asset, especially at break-times and for all outdoor activities
at school and at home. Congratulations to the Dee Ranger Ladies Team, who recently won the
Intermediate Championship. They visited the school with the cup and we had a great welcome for
them. We had spent a lot of time making decorations, headbands and a banner to wish them luck in
the final. They will participate in the Senior Championship next year. Its a great incentive to our
young Dee Ranger Ladies, who attend school here, and have a bright future ahead of them. We
recently had a visit from our past principal, Mr. Egan. Its always great to see him back. At the
moment, we have a student teacher, Mr. Reid, in our classroom for this month. We really enjoy having
him teaching us and inspiring us in our learning. Our school choir has been organised and we have
started singing at the Communion Masses on a monthly basis. We have also been asked to participate
in the Peace Proms Concert, which will be held in the RDS in February 2016. Its an exciting time as
we are learning all the songs and actions. Its an amazing selection of songs this year! On the 28 th
August, Fr. Connaughton brought 5th& 6th Class on their Altar Servers' Trip. They went to Funtasia
Water Park, McDonalds and onto Bettystown Strand Horse Races. Thank you, Father, for the
wonderful day out! We thoroughly enjoyed it. Our new group of Altar Servers are being trained at
present and began serving mass last week. On the 22 nd October, a group of Irish soldiers will visit our
school and present us with an Irish Flag. We have to read a section of the Proclamation for them and
sing Amharn na Bhfiann. This school year so far has been good. Work is easy and break time has
been entertaining. I think being in Sixth Class puts a lot of responsibility on you. Teachers expect us
to look after the little ones, and they are right. This school year is going to be a strange experience
for us and the new Junior Infants, but like us they will get used to school and learn to enjoy it. We
would like to wish everyone the best of luck in the coming school year. Have a fun-filled, spooky
Halloween. Take care when going trick or treating make sure an adult is supervising your group.

Report by Lauren Myles
I am reporting on the Rugby World Cup 2015! The World Cup takes place every four years. This time there
are 20 countries involved. They are broken down into 4 groups of 5 countries in each. Our home nation
Ireland is in group D. They have won their two opening games very convincing against Canada and
Romania. Their next game was against Italy and they won again. Their final group game was against
France which was the toughest game of all four matches. This determined which team they should play in
the knockout games, New Zealand or Argentina. Ireland won and now meet Argentina Hope they win The
World Cup.
Dee Ranger Intermediate Final by Emma Carry
It was a lovely bright sunny Saturday morning. Everyone was so excited for the upcoming match Dee
Ranger Ladies and St. Michaels were playing in an Intermediate Final in Navan OMahonyspitch up
against each other.
Everyone was crazy, busy packing carefully and getting their stuff together neatly. Once we were all ready,
we set off for our journey to Navan. Everyone was feeling nervous and excited. Once they got there, they
all put on their black and white shorts and black and white jerseys.
While this was happening the huge crowds started to build up around the pitch. Everyone was holding a
black and white flag and wearing their head-bands, which our class made for them.
After a while the Dee Rangers came out nervously. They ran quick onto the big pitch. They began warming
up slowly. The referee came out and blew her whistle loudly for the game to begin. Everyone was waving
their flags and ranting and cheering in an encouraging manner.
The Dee Rangers were playing brilliantly! It was a draw match at half time, and each teams U12s team
played for fifteen minutes. As this was in progress the older team was calming down, getting a nice
refreshing drink before they went back on for the second half.
The second half had begun and was underway. They were coming back even stronger now! After a while
the referee blew her full time whistle. The Dee Rangers had won the Intermediate Final!
What do we need to wear on our heads when going onto a Construction site? Ans:Hard Hat.
