Dakshin Kosala
Chhattisgarh is a young state but an ancient land, referred to as Dakshin Kosala. Born
out of 36 princely states, it is a place of marvelous temples and architectural wonders
that offers an eloquent diction to its rich cultural heritage. The harmonization of eastern
and western arts as a result of the British imperialism has added an articulation to the
rich ethnicity of Chhattisgarh.
The economy of the state has rapidly grown in the last five years, recording an average
GDP growth of 10.9%*. Chhattisgarh is a young state projecting a high potential for
generating extreme future employment in the IT and hardware sector.

Intellect In-store
Currently the hostel block houses more than 150 students. All hostels comprise of a
main office, a security room and a guest house. The students are provided with basic
amenities like a cot, table, chairs and a cupboard in their respective rooms. CVRU
incorporates a dispensary block within the hostel premises with separate visiting
doctors for both boys and girls. A telephone booth with STD/ ISD facility is also
available.
The Dr. C.V. Raman University houses a spacious library stacked with
more than 40,000 books, 5,000 titles and thousands of CDs, journals,
reports that cover all subjects. The CVRU library consists of a Central
Library and separate Department Libraries to help students and
faculties alike have easy access to course and reference materials
through a membership card. Apart from the huge collection of books
on Engineering, Science and Humanities, the library has a total seating
capacity of 600 with an Integrated Information System in place. All its
activities including acquisition, cataloguing, circulation and stock
verification have been computerized.
Common Rooms are provided with TV sets, carrom boards and other recreational and
amusement facilities. The sports grounds are situated at a close distance to
encourage students to stay fit by regularly playing cricket, hockey, volley ball, football,
basketball, tennis or take a simple refreshing run along the tracks.
We also run a fleet of busses to help students and staff members commute to and fro
from regions around the city. Parents are urged to convince their wards to travel in the
college busses only, in view of safety issues on the highway.
Hostel Admission
As accommodation is an important part of university life, it helps if you can see the
different types of boarding before you take any decision. However, the University
adheres to the following terms during hostel admissions.
It is carried out on merit basis, as per State Govt. reservation rules
Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks with no backlog courses. The
students with backlogs will be given a lower priority during the room allotment
procedure
The hostel administration reserves the right to deny or cancel admission at any
stage.
WARNING
RAGGING of students, physically or mentally, is a cognisable offence.
The students who have to face ragging can lose their mental stability
and in turn affect their life negatively. All the students are requested not
to commit such an inhuman act of cruelty and eradicate this evil from the
society completely.

Harmony
Unity in Diversity
The state of Chhattisgarh in central India is like a whiff of fresh air, especially if you
happen to arrive here from a concrete jungle. Chhattisgarh has a robust cultural
heritage with its own unique forms of dances, music, cuisines, tribal festivals and
more, offering an enriched environment for social development.
Voice of Bilaspur
It is a special annual event organized by us to encourage students to explore their
talents. This program is in collaboration with 94.3 My F.M.
14
The Powerhouse
We have a well equiped Multi Gymnasium to encourage students to
lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Students residing within the
campus receive the full benefits of the gymnasium, situated at a
close proximity from the hostels. It provides easy access with ample
flexibility in work-out schedules.
Physical training falls under a wider view of education. It is one of the
known and simplest forms of stress relief and helps students
concentrate better on their academic curriculum. It also helps ingrain
the spirit of hard work and increases endurance limits.
15
Dr. C.V. Raman University currently houses eight faculties and several courses
and programmes under each of them. Right from under graduate programmes
all the way to post graduate and research programmes, the University offers
students an extremely diverse range to choose from.

Faculty of Information Technology
The Indian IT Industry has grown at an average annual rate of 30% over the past decade, making it currently a Rs. 400,000 crore
industry. The development of technology is changing the way we live, even though the basic scientific and engineering principles
on which IT is based have not changed. These principles form the core of our skill-based programmes and provide the essential
body of knowledge to which graduates can add their insight, imagination and ability to develop information systems for the future.
