The Beginning of a Legacy

I would like to tell the young men and women not to lose hope and courage.
Success can only come to you by courageous devotion to the task lying in

force which takes one anywhere. We need a spirit of victory, a spirit that will

graduate. Apropos to this philosophy, all our facilities and
infrastructures are meticulously designed for the comforts needed
for a stimulating learning experience. The cool serene ambience of
CVRU provides an ideal academic environment for the students,
away from the concrete jungle of the city.

The student experience

The Dr. C.V. Raman University encourages students to pursue academic
excellence and grow as confident leaders of tomorrow. At CVRU, we
believe that a student is happiest when he studies a subject of his liking. It is
hence imperative that each one is encouraged to find the ideal course for
him and enjoy his subjects through the period of his formal education. With
a wide spectrum of student centric services and programs, we work closely
with them to help grow a rich academic and social environment. Our
mission is to provide a quality campus life and learning by employing all our
resources to help students excel in a multi-cultural and diverse milieu.
Life at CVRU is a congenial experience that not only incorporates deep
academic insights and technical knowledge among its pupils, but also
helps lay down an acute sense of Indian values and ethos.

A home close to home

CVRU provides separate hostel accommodation for both boys and girls from outside Bilaspur. All
rooms are well-furnished and come with an attached bath. The residential buildings are constructed in
close proximity to the departments, library and classrooms to facilitate easy access. The rooms are
spacious and airy with a full view of the lush greenery outside the block perimeters. Mess facilities are
also available for which separate monthly payment will be accrued from the students.

It is the first private University of Chhattisgarh with

provisions for imparting world-class education,
right at home.

Dakshin Kosala
Chhattisgarh is a young state but an ancient land, referred to as Dakshin Kosala. Born
out of 36 princely states, it is a place of marvelous temples and architectural wonders
that offers an eloquent diction to its rich cultural heritage. The harmonization of eastern
and western arts as a result of the British imperialism has added an articulation to the
rich ethnicity of Chhattisgarh.
The economy of the state has rapidly grown in the last five years, recording an average
GDP growth of 10.9%*. Chhattisgarh is a young state projecting a high potential for
generating extreme future employment in the IT and hardware sector.

Infrastructure and Amenities

Intellect In-store

Currently the hostel block houses more than 150 students. All hostels comprise of a
main office, a security room and a guest house. The students are provided with basic
amenities like a cot, table, chairs and a cupboard in their respective rooms. CVRU
incorporates a dispensary block within the hostel premises with separate visiting
doctors for both boys and girls. A telephone booth with STD/ ISD facility is also
available.

The Dr. C.V. Raman University houses a spacious library stacked with
more than 40,000 books, 5,000 titles and thousands of CDs, journals,
reports that cover all subjects. The CVRU library consists of a Central
Library and separate Department Libraries to help students and
faculties alike have easy access to course and reference materials
through a membership card. Apart from the huge collection of books
on Engineering, Science and Humanities, the library has a total seating
capacity of 600 with an Integrated Information System in place. All its
activities including acquisition, cataloguing, circulation and stock
verification have been computerized.

Common Rooms are provided with TV sets, carrom boards and other recreational and
amusement facilities. The sports grounds are situated at a close distance to
encourage students to stay fit by regularly playing cricket, hockey, volley ball, football,
basketball, tennis or take a simple refreshing run along the tracks.
We also run a fleet of busses to help students and staff members commute to and fro
from regions around the city. Parents are urged to convince their wards to travel in the
college busses only, in view of safety issues on the highway.

The library is managed by trained and efficient staff members who

personally guide students in selecting the relevant books, promoting a
culture of collaborative learning process.

The energetic and upbeat atmosphere that

pervades the campus helps define the
true character of the CVRU community.

The library houses hundreds of video lectures

delivered by renowned IIT faculty.

Hostel Admission
As accommodation is an important part of university life, it helps if you can see the
different types of boarding before you take any decision. However, the University
adheres to the following terms during hostel admissions.
It is carried out on merit basis, as per State Govt. reservation rules
Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks with no backlog courses. The

students with backlogs will be given a lower priority during the room allotment
procedure
The hostel administration reserves the right to deny or cancel admission at any
stage.

WARNING
RAGGING of students, physically or mentally, is a cognisable offence.
The students who have to face ragging can lose their mental stability
and in turn affect their life negatively. All the students are requested not
to commit such an inhuman act of cruelty and eradicate this evil from the
society completely.

And when hunger comes calling.

The Dr. C.V. Raman University has two canteens, a cafeteria and a dining hall on
the campus. The cafeteria serves tea and snacks whereas the larger mess hall is
equipped to serve lunch and dinner for all students between scheduled timings. A
choice of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is available at the mess. Apart,
from the main canteens, the campus also has a bakery which serves a whole
range of breads and other confectionary items, a favorite among our students.

Healthy food is a key ingredient for

good concentration and helps students stay fresh and alert.

If any student is found involved in committing or staging such an offence,

then matters will be handled with much gravity. The student may be
expelled and if required be handed over to the Police.

10

11

Quality Time
Extra-curricular Activities

equips you with the skills to prosper. Sports and co-curricular activities help
build confidence on your abilities and grow as a team. As a part of a student's
academic life, you must not only gain the technical insight for a successful
career but also receive the integral values of our traditions, culture and
ethos. At CVRU, we help you grow into morally responsible citizens of India.

12

Harmony

Unity in Diversity

Sports help inculcate an essence of camaraderie and brotherhood among the

students and build on their ability to work and function as a team. At CVRU, we
believe that it is through sports that students learn to live in a diverse environment
in peace and harmony.

The state of Chhattisgarh in central India is like a whiff of fresh air, especially if you
happen to arrive here from a concrete jungle. Chhattisgarh has a robust cultural
heritage with its own unique forms of dances, music, cuisines, tribal festivals and
more, offering an enriched environment for social development.

A student has a plethora of activities to choose from. Excellent facilities for

Cricket, Hockey, Football, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball
and Tennis are available to the students. The University employs specially trained
and qualified instructors for Yoga and other sports to guide the students on
weekends and evenings. Students with exceptional sporting abilities are
motivated to participate in competitions at inter-college, state and national levels.
We encourage our students to actively take part in all sporting events in the
college which are spread out over the academic year.

At CVRU, we advocate our students to participate in a variety of cultural fests and

events round the year which helps develop a keen sense of community among
students hailing from various parts of the state and country. We provide students the
unique opportunity to experience modernity blended with traditions. Students
participate in cultural activities for a wide variety of reasons: for enjoyment,
entertainment, for personal growth, as a means of expression and to learn new skills.

Cultural activities are an integral part of a students' college life,

and we try our best to help them
inculcate and grow their talents.

Voice of Bilaspur
It is a special annual event organized by us to encourage students to explore their
talents. This program is in collaboration with 94.3 My F.M.

Cultural Activity Team (CACT)

CACT encourages students to get actively involved in various forms of cultural and
other co-curricular activities from day one. There's something for everyone, from
sports clubs to literary unions. The CACT team consists of a group of students and
faculty members committed to bring out the talented and provide a platform for these
budding artists and musicians. CACT provides complete support, both academically
and financially, for participation in National and International level cultural events.

CVRU has always prided itself for a friendly

and welcoming environment, and the Cultural Activity Team (CACT)
plays a big part in creating that atmosphere.

14

Whether you want to primarily enjoy the social side of sport or

to compete alongside some of the country's best athletes,
we have the facilities and support that you need.

The Powerhouse
We have a well equiped Multi Gymnasium to encourage students to
lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Students residing within the
campus receive the full benefits of the gymnasium, situated at a
close proximity from the hostels. It provides easy access with ample
flexibility in work-out schedules.
Physical training falls under a wider view of education. It is one of the
known and simplest forms of stress relief and helps students
concentrate better on their academic curriculum. It also helps ingrain
the spirit of hard work and increases endurance limits.

An overall positive and stimulating experience.

15

It's a big pond out there. But we'll give you

the teeth to reach the top of the food chain.
