One Headlight High performs at


Vans Warped Tour
DUSTON NOLAND OF TARKIO - Drummer of One
Headlight High, jams during a concert at the 2015 Warped
Tour at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater. The local band won
a Battle of the Bands contest and were chosen to play the
tour on Thursday, July 30, 2015. On their Facebook page,
the band said, Vans Warped Tour was an unreal, unforgettable experience! We got to meet so many great people!
Thank you so much to all those who came to support us. I
think we made a pretty good impression on a lot of people
thanks to you all jumping around and singing along with
us! The band will be performing in Tarkio on Saturday,
Aug. 8, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Tumblin Saloon, 119 N.
3rd Street.

Sheriffs Dept. trucks sporting new logo


THE ATCHISON COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT
- Has added In God We Trust vinyl to the department vehicles. The vinyl was donated by a small decal/detail shop
in southwest Missouri and Jade Sybert Body Shop donated
the installation. The Missouri Sheriffs Association passed
a resolution the first week of August to support placing our
National Motto In God We Trust on all patrol vehicles.

The Westboro - Community has a reason to celebrate.


The town will now have its own City Hall building. The

Hogs for Haiti ride through Tarkio


A GROUP OF MOTORCYCLISTS ON A MISSION - To
raise money for the Lifeline Christian Missions Childrens
Home in Grand Goave, Haiti, traveled through Atchison
County on Thursday and Friday, August 27 and 28, 2015.
The Hogs for Haiti and the local Christian Motorcyclists
Association (CMA) Heartland Riders of Tarkio hosted a
spaghetti dinner in Rock Port on Thursday evening, raising
over $1,200 in just two hours! The group, including motorcyclists David Blackburn, Sonny Baxter, Anthony Cabaluna,
Bobby Curlee, and Wayne Beebe, and Tim Kaiser and Bill
Coughlin who followed the riders in the parts van, stayed
in Tarkio overnight and enjoyed a delicious breakfast Friday morning, provided by CMA riders Sharon and David
Fruechtenicht, before heading out of town and continuing
on their 5,000 mile, 15-day journey.

Slo-Rollers and Believing Angels donate


to Richard Tullis
THE SLO-ROLLERS CAR CLUB - And the Believing
Angels (a former Relay for Life Team) donated $525 to Richard Tullis on Thursday, September 3, 2015. The money was
raised at a car show held at the Atchison County Fair in
Rock Port, MO. Pictured are, from left to right: front row
- Tom Knierim, Byron Carter, Richard Tullis, and Harry
Wooten; and back row - Marvin Cooper and Roger Green.
Richard is a Tarkio resident and employee of Tarkio R-I
School District who was injured in the spring while mowing the school grounds. The Slo-Rollers plan on holding at
least one car show per year to raise funds for a local person
or family in need.

Kings and Queens crowned
THE TARKIO HIGH SCHOOL AND FAIRFAX HIGH
SCHOOL - 2015 Fall Homecoming Kings and Queens were
crowned on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Kyle Field and
M. David Palmeiro Stadium in Tarkio. The Tarkio High
School 2015 Fall Homecoming King and Queen are Brendon
Bruns and Alissa Hurst. The Fairfax High School 2015 Fall
Homecoming King and Queen are Garrett Ball and Ryan
Hopkins. The crownbearers were Braylyn Wood and Luke
Gebhards.
