More Bisectors

Many of the line segments inside a tangram are angle

bisectors (divides an angle into 2 equal parts) and
perpendicular bisectors (divides a line segment into
2 equal parts at a right angle.)
Line segment SQ is an angle bisector because it divides
PSR into 2 equal angles.
is a perpendicular bisector because it divides
angle.

You Try:
1. Find another angle bisector and perpendicular bisector in the tangram. How can
you check to be sure?
2. Create a square puzzle by adding lines to your own diagram similar to this one.
Follow these rules:
a) Choose 3 angles of different sizes and draw 3
angle bisectors.
b) Choose 3 line segments and draw 3 perpendicular
bisectors.
c) Do not use a ruler or protractor.
d) Use different colours for angle bisectors and
perpendicular bisectors
