Practise Blog week beginning 16th November

This week I have been maintaining my practise on both major and minor
scales, however reciting them in a variety of ways. First I started off singing them
with a crescendo and then a diminuendo and carefully focusing on the accuracy
and tonal quality in which I sing these. I have been making sure that my notes
didnt become too breathy/not clear enough or slightly out of tune if I held them
for too long. This will enable my voice to become stronger and have a clearer
more defined sound. I have been holding the top notes of the scale and focusing
on pushing the sound out using a yawn technique to open out that area of my
throat, helping me project.
I have made some progress with my memory of scales however still using
the piano for prompts. So to improve this I will begin to use the piano less. I have
also made some progress on arpeggios, but mainly focusing on major pentatonic
scales continuing to repeat them in a variety of ways.
This week I began working on a song called No Other Way by Paolo Nutini.
This song is in the time signature of 3/4 which I am not used to, therefore singing
this in time is very difficult because of the timings in which certain words or
sentences are sung. So I need to work on my ability to sing in the time signature
of 3/4 and work on the timing because I am so used to singing in 4/4.
