This week the author focused on breathing exercises and vocal techniques to improve their singing performance. They practiced scales, arpeggios, and songs while concentrating on controlling their breathing. The author struggled maintaining timing on a Paolo Nutini song but improved with guitar accompaniment. They performed with a group, singing Adele's "Hello" and Stevie Wonder's "Superstition", but had difficulty hitting a high note in the passaggio area of their voice. To strengthen this transitional vocal range, the author will continue vocal exercises focusing on problem notes.

This week I have focused on my exercises to help strengthen my
performance: My breathing exercise, where I hold and control my breathing in stages of four counts, humming and increasing vibration therefore projection of my voice and holding notes within my yawn space. This has been helping me whilst practising my scales, arpeggios and songs in my repertoire. I have continued and made some progress with the Paolo Nutini song called no other way but I have still struggled with maintaining the timing. I have been playing the chords on the guitar to help with my accuracy of singing the lyrics at the right point therefore I am slowly improving with my performance and ability of this song and time signature. This week I have also been working towards a performance at the CCI theatre in which me and my group performed Hello by Adele and Superstition by Stevie Wonder. During the chorus of the Adele song it hits a high Bb which in the passaggio area of my voice, between my chest register and head register, so I really struggled with this part of the song. Instead of this I have been doing a lower harmony to accompany the other singer. I need to continue doing scale work around that note to strengthen that transition between them to make a continuous smooth sound. The Stevie Wonder song also has notes within that transitional area, so I need to focus on improving that area.
