Assignment 1:

The piece that i am going to use, that i have performed in, was a group dance. The theme of the
dance was to do with the Red Cross and how the red cross helps familys. The Red Cross is
charaty thats suppors people after natural disasters, the dance started of with people at the
beach and then a tsunarmi came and destroied the city and then the red cross came and
helped. This dance used a viriaty of styles of dance such as street dance, ballet and lyrical. The
style of the dance suited me because i was 2 when i started doing street dance and lyrical so i
was quite well known to that style of dance however i had never done ballet before so that was
something new.

one challange i this was that i didnt have thats good of stamina not just physical but mentally as
my dance was out going and i didnt have maney brakes inbetween. Also for the mentally is for
me to not tell myself that i cant do something and tying it out and to carry on tying to do it to
try and make it perfect. also i need to build up my stamina to make my balance more stronger it
will also help prevent an injury during a dance. However i improve this for this performance by
doing to exercise (cardio,stretches,push ups,squats,sit ups) also a healthy diet is key for getting a
good stamina (fruit,vegetables,water)

I also ths that me flexibility was a bit of a challange as it makes your work appear more seamless
and it can also help increase a dancer’s turn out however my flexibility wasnt that great.
Flexibility also reduces the risk of injuries and soreness and that point i was still recovering fron
an injury. Not only does flexibility elongate your lines and enrich the look of your dancing,
tightness can actually be bad for your body.When your bones are in good alignment, your
muscles, joints, ligaments and vital organs can work as they are supposed to.

Another challange was having to show different emotions through my movements because all
of my dance had different emotions throughout. i over come this challange this by going
through what my dance is about and how i may feel if i was there/the character or ever go
through the main feelings (sad,happy,excited ect) in front of the mirror. I also recorded my self
dancing trying to show emotion.

some rehearsal techniques where very good to prepare us for the final performance such as
having a lot of dress rehearsals as we had to deal with a lot props and aslo because the was a lot
of ages ranging from 6-18. The rehearsals included particular attention to introduction, entrance
/ exit, precise scheduling, music co-ordination, costume, partnering, and contingencies, in
addition to the dance choreography itself.

The one thing i would change about the dance rehearsales are that i think that we needed more
then one reharesal a week as i think if we had more then we wouldnt have to recap the same
thing every week and go over what we learnt the week before because it should be learn
something new twice a week to speed up the proces of learning the dance and then once the
dance is finished we have longer to polish it and make it thwe best we can however i feel ike it
was a bit of a rush making it perfect also it was a bit of a struggle for the little ones to learn
things farst and to do some movemens that the older ones done.
