Petroleum Conservation Research Association

(PCRA)is an Indian government body created

in 1977 and engaged in promoting energy
efficiency and conservation in every walk of
life. In the recent past PCRA has done mass
media campaigns in television, radio & print
media. An impact assessment survey by a
third party revealed that due to these mega
campaigns by PCRA, overall awareness level
have gone up leading to saving of fossil fuels
worth crores of rupees(Indian currency)
besides reducing pollution.

ENERGY CONSERVATION
Energy conservationrefers to

reducingenergy consumptionthrough using

less of an energy service. Energy conservation
differs fromefficient energy use, which refers
to using less energy for a constant service .
For example, driving less is an example of
energy conservation. Driving the same
amount with a higher mileage vehicle is an
example of energy efficiency. Energy
conservation and efficiency are both energy
reduction techniques.

ENERGY USE
ENERGY USE Electricity and natural gas are

two natural resources that we count on for

most of our energy needs. By using them less,
we can preserve fossil fuels and reduce the
amount of carbon dioxide in the air. We do our
best to cut down on our electricity and natural
gas use in town facilities while encouraging our
homeowners and businesses to do the same.

TYPES OF ENERGY

SOLAR ENERGY
Solar energy is radiant light and heat from

the Sun harnessed using a range of everevolving technologies such as solar heating,
photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar
architecture and artificial photosynthesis.

WIND ENERGY
Wind power is extracted from air

flow using wind turbines or sails to

produce mechanical or electrical
power. Windmills are used for their
mechanical power, wind pumps for
water pumping, and sails to propel
ships. Wind power as an alternative
to fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable,
widely distributed, clean, produces
no greenhouse gas emissions during
operation, and uses little land. The
net effects on the environment are
far less problematic than those of
nonrenewable power sources.

LIGHT ENERGY
The potential for light to perform work is

called light energy. Light energy is the only

form of energy that we can actually see
directly. It is formed through chemical,
radiation, and mechanical means. Light
energy can also be converted into other forms
of energy.

IN END I WANT TO ONLY SAY THAT WE

SHOULD CONSERVE ENERGY FOR FUTURE . IT

IS THE MOST NEEDED ITEM FOR FUTURE
GENERATION
