Planning and Evaluation Seminar: January 11, 2016 (Day 1)
MINUTES OF THE MEETING:
1. EXPECTATION SETTING a. What else would you like to discuss from PlEvSem? ConCon (Hamoy): Will there be a particular segment where ConCon would get to talk? (Yes, other than other updates, segments allotted for ATF also) SOSE Sec-Treas (Carmela): Issues of the Philippines and the world that Sanggunian needs to talk about. DSWS (Mark L.): What is the future of Sanggunian, considering that we have had 3 consecutive years of the failure of elections? Issues within Sanggunian, why is it working/not, what is working? Projects are easy to talk about, but about the institution is another story. Why is Sanggunian in this state and what can we do to get out of it? SOSE Sec-Treas (Carmela): Discuss why we need to do those projects or initiatives, reinforce what we want to do for the rest of the year. b. What you hope the team can accomplish from this planning and evaluation seminar? BS LfSci Representative (Hamoy): Better communication within and outside the units ConCon (Hamoy): Meetings are the least productive events in an institution, creative and efficient ways of communication & project management. MGT Representative (Ofi): Information with what Sanggunian is doing, readily made available to constituents 3 SOH CB (Koko): Find spaces for actual and concrete collaboration and action 2. LEADERSHIP LIFELINE a. Charting of significant/impactful/important moments in life Self: We are all compelled by decisions and situations to lead Self: Key discoveries: Nostalgia with being a leader, its not about the commitments Self: Everyone had their low zone, without it you would not appreciate the high points. Others: Everybody can be a leader Others: Its not something sporadic, it takes time.
b. Synthesis: What do these all mean to you as a leader of the
Sanggunian/as a Sanggunian officer? There is a learning curve, you gain more as you experience more. One point does not lead to a concrete next point, you make your own path. We can disengage from our high/low points in order to discover something new. At the end of the day, we are all somehow inevitably overestimate/underestimate people. We have the capacity to do great things, be open to trusting people that they may perform well, because there is a potential to do so much more together. Gratitude, the Sanggunian is a grateful bunch. It turns what we have into enough, and more.
