Character Name: Castro Age: 18 Years Old Gender: Male Features: Black hair, brown eyes, 5ft10 Representation: Jaydon is an individual who is confident and outgoing. He is a bright and fairly educated individual, with a decent acting quality. His personality is perfect for the character of Castro within my production. The characters typical representation consists that of a black teenage male who uses slang words and dresses in vibrant, noticeable clothing, usually black. This was perfect for my production, as it would allow the actor to deliver the role of the prime protagonist on set without forcing the idea. This would mean a more realistic vibe was given to the film. Throughout the film, I aim to illustrate a clear representation of Jaydons identity through the use of different microelements. For example, spoken dialogue will be a prime factor of my representation as it informs the audience about the current stage of the production and what is going on. When conversing with his friends, terms such as g and fam will make the relationship between the three friends clearer. Also, this type of language is hugely common in the generation of todays teenagers. Jaydon will be purposely represented stereotypically. For example, his costume consists of a dark coat with dark jeans, black shoes and a bucket hat. The use of the hat (which sometimes covers his eyes) is a natural stereotype for teenage black characters to wear as they tend to stay hidden, especially when involved with illegal activities. It is socially looked at as negative and associated with hoodlums who partake in criminal acts predominantly consisting of the theme of violence. Jaydon will be positioned with his two friends for the majority of the production. Therefore, it is important to capture the right shots and use the correct angles in order to emphasise the characters actions and emotions. For example, I will use a medium/close up shot when he is speaking, to keep the focus on the character. Close ups will also be used to capture the emotion of the character as well as present it clearly to the audience.

Film Influences: Whilst researching different films focusing
on male representation, I came across Topboy. This is because, whilst analysing the film, I realised that they use a stereotypical representation of men, which consists of them acting and looking like hoodrats. This relates to my representation as he follows the same general codes and conventions of other action genre shows and films. Character Influences: I decided to create my characters representation, focusing in relation to Topboys male protagonist Ashley Walters. The fact that they are of the same ethnicity helps me to relate as the characters are seen as similar. Jaydon can also pull off the same act of seriousness that Ashley Walters character does in TopBoy, enhancing the viewing experience for the audience, supporting the verisimilitude to be more believable.
