Logbook

It has been the first week back now and all the classes have kicked off quickly and
promptly. Drama was one of the classes that I was most looking forward to as I
enjoyed it so much in previous years, and some of this is due to the people in my class
as well as my teachers. My holidays were peaceful and now im back and ready for
another year.
1. So far this week we have done some games in class that work on elements of
drama such as focus, language, sound and movement. We played the game in
which we walk around the class in different speeds (1-10) and have to get into
groups to create tableauxs of certain things such as: a knife and fork, Dr.
Lennoxs speech and a fire extinguisher.
2. In the class today (Thursday) I worked with Charles, Oli, Lucia and Jackson in
which he had to perform a small piece with inanimate objects that became
animate when I touched them (as I was playing the human). I was also not
allowed to speak but the others were. I found this an interesting piece but it was
fun to work on.
3. I think that the topic/focus this week has been a basic/accelerated introduction
of drama to the new students that have joined the programme, but also a
continuation of what we were doing last year. I think one of the techniques used
this week has definitely been focus, whether is be in a piece or just in general.
4. I think that the goals of the exercises, drills and class this week have been to be
alert in class and pay attention because we want to get a move into this topic as
quickly as we can.
5. This week in Drama, our main drama technique/idea has been Focus. We learnt
that the focus isnt only about concentration and removing distractions but it can
also be the main point of focus in a piece. We did an example with some chairs
and a water bottle to point out how focus can shift by moving objects around.
We were given our groups that we will perform our assessment in this term and are
already focusing on the things to come.
