NAMES AND TITLES FOR JESUS

INTRODUCTION
Theologians tell us that people pray as the they
believe, but people also believe as they pray. A
famous prayer called the "Jesus Prayer" is a great
example of both the believer and pray-er expressing
his or her faith. Each word in the Jesus Prayer
conveys profound meaning: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son
of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." The following
slides will analyze the important words of the prayer
more deeply.

JESUS
It means "God Saves or Yahweh is Salvation
It reveals the mission Jesus accomplished for us

It is a late form of the Hebrew name Joshua

(Yehoshua)
The name "Jesus" shows that the very name of

God is present in the person that will save us


from our sins and ultimately from death.
