Hogan.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read out by Miss
Fawl.
A meter reading was taken.
The Committee discussed holding a Switch It Off Fortnight as
it has not taken place since last suggested due to school
demands. Ideas were shared and a date was decided upon.
Switch It Off Fortnight will take place from Monday 11th
January to Friday 22nd January. The Green Schools committee
will be responsible for spot checks to see if energy is being
wasted in the school. They will also share a Tip of the Day with
the other classes to encourage energy conservation at home
and at school.
Caoimhe Kelly and Chelsea Canny will finish the school
newsletter this week, which will include a progress report on
the Green Schools.
The Design a Mascot competition was discussed and this is to
be introduced to the other classes in the second week of
Switch It Off Fortnight.
The committee discussed Rain Water Harvesting and Mike
explained to the children how this works. It was suggested that
a letter could be drafted to our principal Mr. Harrison to
encourage him to include Rain Water Harvesting when putting
forward his plans for a new classroom.

Mike is to purchase an Owl. This will then be used to measure

energy usage in the school and to highlight the appliances
which are using the most energy.
Work on building a small solar panel is to start in the New Year.
Progress under the theme of Litter and Waste was discussed.
This is going well.
