CONCEPT OF
TEACHING
Aim of Teaching To assist students to learn effectively.
Hirst and Peters (1970) and Scheffer (1973) maintained
that the key criterion for the concept of teaching for
someone to be teaching should have the intention to
bring about learning.
However, the criterion alone does not provide a
complete concept to guarantee teaching.
Supporting condition 1. Strategies chosen must be
reasonably and likely to achieve the aim of learning 2.
What the teacher does must fall under certain
restrictions of manner.

DEFINITION OF
TEACHING
Teaching an assignment activity which is
systematically planned, organized, implemented
and assessed by the teacher
In the process of teaching, applied suitable
teaching methods and techniques to guide,
encourage and motivate students to take their
own initiative to learn, so as to achieve the
learning objectives.

CHARACTERISTICS OF
TEACHING
Two important elements teacher and
student.
In teaching activity - Teacher as instructor,
Student as learner
Teaching will be meaningful when learning
occurs.
Main teaching activities 1. instruction, 2.
training, 3. indoctrination, 4. conditioning

Teaching includes thinking process and the


application of language and symbols.
Meaningful teaching should have
achievement or assignment.
Teaching activity implemented in various form
(teacher-oriented, student-oriented, teacher
and student-oriented, teaching materialoriented).
Includes two-way interaction.

CONCEPT OF
LEARNING
Kimble (1961) learning as an experience which
produces a relatively permanent change in
potential behaviour.
Exclude natural changes of behaviour biological
growth or development or temporary changes.
Wayne Weiten (1994) learning includes not only
the acquisition of knowledge and skills, but also
formation of habits, personality traits, emotional
responses, and personal cases.
