    In State of Israel v Cohen, Attorney Barak Cohen, an social protest activist is prosecuted for insulting Israel Police Intelligence Officer Hamdani, by recording a and posting a youtube song, referring to the policeman as “green-eyed snake”. The case revealed a sequence of events, starting by Attorney Cohen's counseling to his clients, regarding what protest and demonstration actions require permit by police pursuant to the law, and which ones do not. Such counseling was fully legal. However, it was considered by Hamdani counter-productive (“sticks in the wheels”) to the Israel Police efforts to coerce protestors to ask police for permission for any protest action, whether such permission was required by law or not. In addition, Hamdani expected Cohen to be more cooperative with police, or possibly work for police, which Cohen was not inclined to do at all. Consequently, Cohen suffered consequences, including police violence, false arrests, attempt to frame him by false claims and false coplaints filed against him by police. Finally, Cohen responded to the harassment by recoding and uploading to Youtube the “green-eyed snake” song. Hamdani claimed that the song was disasterous to his life... Access to public records in Net-HaMishpat is minimal, not reflecting at all the conduct of the prosecution. On February 1, 2016 Request for Inspection was filed. The request pertained to dockets, decisions, protocols, judgments, access to which is guaranteed by law to “any person” in cases that are not lawfully sealed. The parties did not file any objection. On February 19, 2016 Decision by Judge Amir was rendered, which permitted inspection, and on February 24, 2016, inspection was materialized. The records received upon inspection are missing the October 21, 2015 protocol – arraignment. None of the protocols was duly docketed, and there is no way to ascertain their validity. לתיק זה חשיבות מרובה לגבי חופש הדיבור, חופש ההפגנה, הזכות לייצוג וייעוץ על ידי עורך דין. ברק כהן ייצג אנשי מחאה שונים בירושלים - מלה פמיליה של בית"ר ועד לקבוצת "המעברה". רכז מודיעין חמדני ממשטרת ישראל ציפה שבתור עורך דין כהן ישמש "צינור", או אולי אפילו ישתף פעולה עם המשטרה. אולם כהן לא שיתף פעולה כלל. יתרה מזאת, משטרת י-ם נסתה להונות את הציבור בכלל, ואת לקוחותיו של כהן בפרט, ולכפות עליהם לקבל מהמשטרה אישור לכל פעולת מחאה. עו"ד כהן חינך את לקוחותיו לגבי החוק בעניין, ואף העלה סרטון ליוטיוב, בו הוא מסביר בשתיים שלוש דקות את עיקרי החוק (פעולה של פחות מ-50, תחת כיפת השמים, ללא נאומים פוליטיים, ללא מצעד או תהלוכה - אינה זקוקה לאישור). לפיכך ראה חמדני בכהן מי ש"תוקע לו מקלות בגלגלים". בהמשך, חמדני והמשטרה התנכלו ונקמו בכהן בדרכים שונות, מאלימות ומעצרי שווא, ועד תלונות שווא, וכו. בין השאר, חמדני תועד שהתקשר לפעילי לה פמיליה של בית"ר, וניסה לשכנע אותם לנתק מגע עם כהן, שכן הם ימניים, והוא "אנרכיסט שמאלני"... באופן כללי - חמדני תועד שהוא ראה בכהן אדם שמקומו בת"א, ולא ראה שיש לו מה לחפש בירושלים... הכתבים במערכת גישת הציבור אינם משקפים כלל את מהלך התיק. בכתבים שהתקבלו בשעת העיון חסר פרוטוקול מיום 2015-10-21 – הקראה. אף אחד מהפרוטוקולים לא נרשם כראוי, ואין לדעת אם הם תקפים.
