Representative Charles Graham

N.C. House of Representatives

16 W. Jones Street, Room 1309
Raleigh, NC 27601-1096

Good afternoon Representative Charles Graham,

My name is Kyler Williamson, a senior at UNC Pembroke majoring in Social Work. I am writing
you to ask that you would assist me in advocating to bringing more awareness to human
trafficking by signing the petition in the link below to pass the Human Trafficking Prevention,
Intervention, and Recovery Act of 2015. This act will actively work to eliminate human
trafficking as well as protecting the individuals that are currently victims of human trafficking.
This act will require the Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking by
conducting reviews that: (1) survey federal and state activities to deter individuals from
committing trafficking offenses and to prevent children from becoming trafficking victims; (2)
review academic literature on deterring individuals from committing trafficking offenses,
preventing children from becoming trafficking victims, and the commercial sexual exploitation
of children; and (3) identify the best practices and strategies to deter such actions.
I think that this is an important issue because the victims deserve to live a full life and that is
impossible while being involved in human trafficking. I also think that more awareness should be
raised about this issue so that these individuals can receive the help that they need. Also, I think
it is important that the victims receive treatment so that they adjust to life outside of being
involved in human trafficking.
As of now the petition has 70,879 signatures and only needs 4,121 more supporters. Together we
can help combat this issue. Please view the link below to sign the petition.
