Dear Irving School Families,
I wanted to provide you with some important information about an incident that occurred at
Irving School this morning. Shortly after 8:00 AM it was reported that a potential security
issue was discovered behind Irving School. Police were contacted immediately.
Out of an abundance of caution, we did not have students enter the building. The school
buses that were ready to drop students off were temporarily rerouted to the High School
parking lot until police could determine the building was safe.
At 8:45 AM police determined the building was safe and buses were returned to Irving and
school began as scheduled. Three buses were at Derby High School for approximately 7
minutes. Two buses did not have to route to the High School because the all clear message
came after they were finished picking up their students. These students arrived to school as
usual.
I want to assure you that at no time were student or staffs safety in jeopardy.
All activities returned to normal at 8:45 AM.
In the process of making an initial notification through School Messenger to parents, we
experienced some technical difficulties with our system. We are working with School
Messenger to determine why this happened. I apologize for the brief delay in our notification.
