3. Construct a food chain in a given ecosystem
Elicit (5 minutes)
The students will identify the jumbled words.
1. ABT
2. LPNAT
3. ERNEYG
4. ODFO
5. URMESONC
Engage (3 minutes)
Identify the following:
1. What is the animal in the story?
2. Where they live?
Explore (12 minutes)
Working in a group (three members per group), students
will:

area of Monfort Bat Cave? List them in the table.
(Table 1)
2. Divide the following into the following categories:
(Table 2)

1st order consumer, and;
2nd order consumer

Materials

Article about Monfort Bat Cave

Pictures of organism
Pencil or ballpen
Sheet of paper

Key Questions:
1. What groups/s of organism are considered as
producers?
2. What part of the durian trees and other trees served
as a food for the bats?
Explain (20 minutes)

1. What are the organisms that feed on Bats?
2. Among the organisms that feed on bats, are there
organisms that possibly feed on the predators of
Bats? (Yes or No)
Elaborate (10 minutes)
The teacher will show an illustration/video clip about the
transfer of energy by categorizing the organism according to
their tropic level.
Key questions:
1. Without decomposer, will producer and consumers
stay alive? Why?
2. Without producers, will consumers stay alive? Why?
Evaluate (5 minutes)
Draw a Chart of food web in the marine and land ecosystem.

Extend (5 minutes)
