Re: Lynn M. Scott, RN, BSN
To Whom It May Concern: This letter is being written as a personal and professional reference for my friend and coworker, Lynn Scott. I have known and worked with Lynn since 1999. Our friendship developed easily and instantly due to mutual interests, but mostly because of our shared love for obstetrical nursing. I participated in Lynns orientation on our unit, and it quickly became apparent that she was a dedicated, caring, and skillfully competent nurse who always put the needs of her patients first. She is a coworker who is always willing to help out, including mentoring new nurses. She is never too busy to help someone out, and her patients verbalize their appreciation for her dedication and commitment. If someone has a question, they seek out Lynn, knowing she will gladly take the time to find the answer. Lynn has been pursuing her Masters and FNP degree, and it is obvious that she has a strong desire to continue to learn and to share that knowledge. She previously obtained her international certification in lactation consulting, and taught staff and new mothers about breastfeeding. Twice Lynn has attempted to spread her wings and sample other nursing jobs, but twice I convinced her that our nursing unit needed her more than she needed her wings. She did, in fact, fly back to us, and it is with great gratitude and appreciation that she will always be my friend but is now, again, my coworker. Lynn has one desire in life, and you can easily read it in her eyes as she talks to a patient or in her hands as she comforts someone in pain. That desire is to make a difference in the lives of the people with whom she comes into contact. Through her competent nursing assessment and skills, she brings a holistic approach to the labor and birth process while instilling confidence in her patients and coworkers. She always has a quick smile, making it obvious how much she enjoys her work. And her love of learning has been a benefit to those with whom she works and the patients for whom she cares. It is an honor and a privilege to call Lynn my friend. It is an added bonus to work with this amazing nurse!
