To whom it may concern,

I have the pleasure of writing this letter to recommend Lynn Ly as a candidate for future
employment with you. I am currently a Registered Nurse practicing in the Medical ICU at
Northwest Medical Center in Tucson. I was fortunate enough to be Lynn’s preceptor during her
last semester of nursing school, where she had the opportunity to dive into the role of a bedside
ICU nurse for 15 full shifts.

Throughout our time together, I got to see characteristics of Lynn that I think would be crucial in
her career as a nurse. Firstly, she was professional and showed up to every shift early. Every
interaction with a patient, a family member, or a member of the interdisciplinary team was
respectful and professional. She quickly adapted to our unit, and worked well with other nurses.
Lynn was also always eager to learn and improve her skills, asking appropriate questions and
taking feedback seriously to apply to her practice. She also seeked out opportunities to learn,
even with patients that were not a part of her assignment. I was able to see her critical thinking
skills develop, and her confidence in herself and her skills grow during our time together.

As her preceptor, I had the opportunity to see Lynn in many different capacities. During
emergent and stressful situations, she remained calm and was able to communicate with others
effectively. Specifically, I got to see her in code blues, RSIs, and rapidly declining patients that
needed immediate care. She was able to focus on the problem at hand no matter the environment
she was in. She also showed compassion and empathy for our patients. Lynn brought many
smiles to our patients’ faces and was able to have conversations to make them feel more
comfortable and at ease.

By the end of her preceptorship, I had full confidence in Lynn with her interactions with patients
and her skills, especially because she was never afraid to ask questions or for help. I believe this
is an important quality as she starts as a nurse as it shows her willingness to learn and be humble
in her practice. I highly recommend Lynn as a candidate, she will be a great asset for your team. I
am proud that I will be able to call her a colleague soon. If you have any questions, please feel
free to reach me by phone or email.

Sincerely,

Eunice Jung, RN, BSN
