The Conference was fun, made so by the great people we

were with, and some speakers who were inspirational. Major
Brendan Nottle of the Salvation Army talked with passion
about the early roots of the Salvation Army in Melbournethese were early beginnings for all of the Salvation Army
worldwide. He talked about taking the tired Army back to its
roots, reminding the Administration staff about its mission. He
is also Chaplain to Collingwood Football Club, he seems to
have brought new focus to their community effort.

THURSDAY 31 MARCH

Ian Risely Rotary World President Nominee talked about the

future of Rotary, and asked us a vital question" Would you join
your club now as a potential member?". My answer now is "Of
course", so many members have worked hard to ensure our
image is excellent and that we welcome potential members.
Ian also said that amidst necessary and inevitable change that
what is non-negotiable is our ethical standards.

Conference 2016

Not The Conference Golf Day

Nineteen blue shirt Beaumaris Rotarians and partners

ventured up to Shepparton for District 9810 Conference,
and by all the feedback, everyone enjoyed themselves.

As many will be aware District has decided to separate its

traditional golf day from the conference and hold it as a
separate event. Undaunted, we were able to enjoy a delightful not the conference golf day prior to conference,
at Mooroopna Golf Club.

On Thursday, the beautiful Mooroopna Golf course was

home for our golfers, with others arriving in the evening
for drinks, Chinese smorgasbord and birthday celebrations for Wolf and Chris.

We were all very pleased to see the reappearance of our Noble Park (Graeme Smith and John Williams) took the
prize with 44 points, and David and Di Hone were a close

entertained us throughout the conference. We were also second on 42. We were able to celebrate birthdays for

Sunday brought a new perspective on how our knees,
eyes, brain cells and other body parts will be repaired in
the future, with an absolutely amazing talk by Professor
Gordon Wallace on the use of 3D printing to make us all
bionic in the future.
The burning question on every Rotarians mind during the
morning was Who stole Mr Bean from the Gala Dinner?,
as his life size cut-out image was part of the silent auction. We were all advised that the thief had been caught
on CCTV and this would be played to the 440 attendees if
he wasnt returned. More will be revealed soon!
The conference concluded with a BBQ lunch in the park
before we all made our merry way back home.
