Presidents Report Next Meetings

I hope you all agree that the Music Quiz last Thursday was a THURSDAY FEBRUARY 9
great way to start the New Year. It was a load of fun and the JENNIFER ELIOT
idea to randomly mix everyone into teams worked really well. BOOMER BOOK UPDATE
Many thanks to Greg Every, Rewa Jones and Ken Mirams for CHAIR: CHRIS MARTIN
setting the questions and running the quiz and to Shirley AV: ROSS PHILLIPS

Mirams and David Lea for helping on the night. This is the

second year we have run this quiz and its popularity may mean
that we make it as an annual event.
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 16
FELLOWSHIP EVENT
We also had a number of visitors on the night (as well as many
BAREFOOT BOWLS & GOURMET ROAST DINNER
partners) and these were Chris Taylor, Ann Ridgway, John and

Lorraine Capel and visiting Rotarian John Barker and wife Jen-
ny from the Kelso club in Scotland (see photo on page 2).
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 23
CLUB FORUM
There were a few important dates announced on the night but
CHAIR: ROBERT MCARTHUR
as they were probably ignored in the eagerness to answer the

music picture quiz that was on each table, I will remind you of
CASH DESK: MARRY CUDDINGTON & PETER FLUDE

Farmers Market next Saturday 11 February;
A Day on Oak Street on Sunday 12 February;
Barefoot Bowls at the Black Rock Bowls Club on
Thursday 16th February;
Club Forum on Thursday 23 February;
The Book of Mormon Thursday 13 April.

Also, Treasurer Richard Jones distributed a list of our service

projects income and outgoings for 2015/16. We are on track
to emulate or better the income figures in 2016/17. This in turn
provides a challenge for the club to continue to identify mean-
ingful and worthwhile projects and/or /beneficiaries. All mem-
bers are encouraged to give this some thought. Unless stated otherwise venue is

Another terrific weekend for those golfers and non-golfers who
ventured down to Mirboo North. The golf was good for some Contents
though somewhat challenging for others, the weather was 1 Presidents Report

weekends. Interestingly we had four non-Rotarians with us (not 5/6 Pre Conference Golf Day Details / Charity Golf day
counting honorary member Brian Kimpton and wife Jill or our 7 Club Structure / Photo of Week
own partners) who relished the camaraderie as much as any.
Many thanks for Bob McArthur for organizing the event, and
please note that the baton has now been passed to Megan
Glenwright and Lynda Doutch for next year.

return excess flyers to the Farmers Market on Saturday.
I can arrange more flyers for those who ran out and Yours in Rotary
would like to continue. As a matter of interest one of the
stall-holders at the last market told me that, in his experi-
Malcolm
ence, letter-dropping flyers was by far the most effective
way to get new customers. So, it will be interesting to
see the impact of our letter-dropping has on our market
on Saturday.

Since all members get details of what is going on in the

District via direct emails I will not try to list them all here.
However there a few items that are worth noting.

An invitation has been issued to those bike-riders

amongst us to participate in the annual Ride to Confer-
ence, the main beneficiary being Australian Rotary
Health.
There will be a District Golf Day on Thursday 4
May (though unfortunately this will clash with the opening
of the Indigenous Art Exhibition and Sale that our club is
organizing).
Nominations are being sought for District Gover-
nor in 2019/20.

Details of all these events and more can be found on the

District 9810 website. As the information on this website
is being continually updated I encourage you all to pay it
an occasional visit. It is surprising what you may find out!

Another reminder that the District Conference is coming

soon. Please make sure you have registered and ad-
vised Trish Smyth of your accommodation requirements.
