FIRST LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS

The first law also known as The Law of Conservation of
Energy states that energy cannot be created nor destroyed
only transferred from one form to another.

When heat is added to a system some stays in the system

and the some of the energy leaves the system. The energy
that stays creates an increase in the internal energy of the
system.

EQUATION FOR FIRST LAW

EXAMPLE:
Lets say you have a pot of water at room temperature, then
you turn on the stove (you are adding heat to the system).
First the te4mp and energy of the water increases. Next, the
system releases some energy and it dissolves into the
environment (the steam rising from the pot and evaporates
heating the area around the pot).
