Effectively Integrating Technology in the Classroom


This workshop will be completed using a Piktochart presentation within a face to face learning
environment. The course will be adapted as an online learning module for teachers unable to attend this
session. The piktochart presentation will serve as a guide to all activities. Workshop participants will use
the links provided for participation in Kahoot and the Google Form evaluation. Throughout the workshop,
participants will use the discussion tool to participate in various discussion topics. Participants use of the
discussion tool as well as the pre and post assessment will serve as a means for the instructor to assess
the participants learning. Users will complete a discussion activity in Padlet at the conclusion of the
tutorials. Participants will also be able to use the chat tool to pose questions for the instructor. The
instructor will complete a tutorial of each tool from slide 7. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants
will complete a brief survey via a Google Form.
Piktochart Presentation
Introduction and Pre-Assessment (3 minutes)
Introduce the purpose of the workshop through the Piktochart presentation linked above. Assess
participants prior knowledge of and experiences with Web 2.0 tools through a Kahoot game. Briefly
discuss how Kahoot could be used within the classroom for data collection and quick assessments. See
slides 1-6 of the presentation.
Kahoot Pre-Assessment Web 2.0 Tools
Teach/Assess Participants Learning (5 minutes)
Introduce the participants to the web 2.0 tool Plickers through a quick tutorial. Demonstrate how the tool
could be used in the classroom with an overview of the tool and how to create a question, add students,
and view feedback. After the tutorial, the instructor will ask the participants to discuss ways this tool would
be beneficial in their classroom. The teacher will also allow questions about the tool. See slide 7 of the
presentation.
Plickers - Web 2.0 Tool
Teach/Assess Participants Learning (5 minutes)

Introduce the participants to the web 2.0 tool Padlet. Demonstrate how the tool could be used in the
classroom with an overview of the tool, how to create textboxes, add images, and push the same link to
all students for collaborative efforts. After the tutorial, the instructor will ask the participants to discuss
ways this tool would be beneficial in their classroom. The teacher will also allow questions about the tool.

Teach/Assess Participants Learning (5 minutes)
Introduce the participants to the Google Chrome extension Read & Write. Demonstrate how the tool could
be used in the classroom with an overview of the tool, how to add it, and how to use it. Discuss the ability
to differentiate activities for various levels of learners through the different features offered through Read
& Write. After the tutorial, the instructor will ask the participants to discuss ways this tool would be
beneficial to use in their classroom. The teacher will also allow questions about the tool. See slide 7 of the
presentation.

Teach/Assess Participants Learning (2 minutes)
At the conclusion of the tutorials, the instructor will ask the participants to use Padlet (linked in
presentation) to explain how one of the tools can be used in their classroom. See slide 8 of the
presentation.

Participants will take the post assessment reviewing web 2.0 tools. See slide 9 of the presentation.
Kahoot Post-Assessment
Evaluate Workshop Effectiveness (2 minute)

At the conclusion of the workshop, the instructor will ask participants to complete a survey of the overall
effectiveness of the course. See slide 10 of the presentation.

The instructor will assign the extended workshop activity to the students. See slide 11 of the presentation.
