1. What are your goals and objectives for this lesson?

My specific goal for students in this lesson is for them to engage in activity centers to
observe the effects of friction (heat, sound, color difference). My objectives include
students filling out their science notebook observation chart with 100% accuracy for all
four center stations and completing the exit ticket to show their understanding.

2. What are some specific things you would like observed?

I hope to observe students engaging and participating during the stations and be excited
about what they are seeing and doing. I want to hear them talking to their group about
new observations they see and questioning each other why certain things did or did nit
happen.

3. Strengths to continue to build on:
Miss Reber did an excellent job facilitating the students learning throughout this lesson. She
was organized and encouraged them to make connections between sound energy, heat energy and
friction. She made sure to wrap up the lesson with a class discussion, noting observations that
were made in each friction station. She guided the students to the realization that the smooth
materials that were provided created less friction than the rough materials that were provided.
4. Suggestions for future lessons:
In the future, I would suggest putting the students in smaller groups. Possibly have
2 separate groups for each center. For example, 2 balloon stations, 2 sandpaper
stations, 2 pattern block stations and 2 ribbon stations. This would cut down on
time at each station and eliminate some behavior issues that can arise when
students are waiting their turn for the materials.
